<div class="IPBDescription">What do you think?</div> Basically from what people are saying on the servers I play are that they either love caged or they hate it. So now I'm asking what do you think about ns_caged?
Personally caged is my favourite map, the aliens have so many ambush points to choose from, the marines can easily destroy most hive resource points, but I think it allows for the most competative play on any map. Also the vent leading into the marines base is a great rush oppertunity.

But caged is a damn fine map!
Bast is by far my favorite map... plays out the best and has the best atmosphere, in my opinion. Fun as heck to comm on, too <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Learn to hide yourself.
Those of you with slow computer know what I mean. You might get 30 FPS on every other NS map, but Caged only gives you 4. All the time.
I imagine I would enjoy it better were I to upgrade.
And Hera is nice, but it lags far too much to play seriously.

I've been seeing that since like the first week of release.
nothing = eclipse > tanith > nancy > bast = caged > hera
Hera has a very nice architecture, lighting and so on, but as long as you can siege two hives from processing it's the most unbalanced map in NS in my (and almost all my clanmates') oppinion.
Caged (just called "that alien map" by a lot of fellow players), as hera, has a nice architecture and a good lighting, there are lots of vents and hiding spots... and this is the problem of this map in my oppinion.
The Marines have to walk quite far distances to get from one hive to another while the aliens can use many different ways to get there in up to only 1/4 of the time. But the problem is not the lange number of vents (maps are supposed to be this way), it's the fact that marines can only weld some of them from wich i would consider only one or two important.
The thing I hear most complains about on ns_caged is the vent-hive.
As somebody mentioned before blocking the door at shipping has become a standard procedure for aliens... for a skulk without upgrades there a at least (gate not welded open, door blocked) 3 ways to get into vent, a marine that does not have JP or welder may have none... losing vent to skilled aliens normally means to lose vent until late game if not until end of round.

My favorite map by far, is Tanith, I love to COMM that map.

Indeed it does ... Caged 1.1 will have less than half the current 640+. Along with many other changes, heres a sample:
- new marine spawn
- tweaked vent hive
- new central area
- some changes to vent placement

There's a million ambush spots for the aliens, all which greatly help enforce the intended marine playstyle - the marines should be <i>afraid</i> to travel alone. I play as Skulk probably 90% of the time, so naturally Caged is my favorite map. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
The marines have the advantage if/when the aliens don't make use of the numerous ambush points, as most hallways and rooms aren't overly cluttered with obstacles. Groups of marines almost always have an advantage against unorganized aliens.
If manah can improve on this map, I'll be very impressed. Aside from the entity count, it's as near to perfect in its current form as I could possibly expect.
The 2 hives that have outside res nodes is somewhat of a minor disadvantage, ventilation is to easy to defend and on pubs most commanders still have not caught on to a decent strategy for it.

the rest are good maps. i just dont like hera
As far as processing is concerned, i've rarely ever seen an attempt at ns_processing work on haste's server, so maybe the aliens on your servers are just getting completely outclassed. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Outclassed or not, I think it's a serious design flaw. I don't want to come accross as bashing because I've tried making maps and I know how hard it is. I just can't see it as being fair at all.
