In tourney mode
I noticed while playing in a scrim that while in tourney mode, all the units had proper shadows. I hadn't noticed this before in normal pub play, so I assume its only in tourney mode (or somewhere in the CAL config as thats what was used). Anyways, I went past a hive, and it had a shadow too, looked very awkard. Two pics for all, discuss.

Still, I think unit shadows would be cool, but a hive having a shadow...that's jsut a bit weird, especially with a few of the maps not even having them attached to walls, jsut rather close to them, and then theres the fact that anything around it map wise wouldn't have a shadow to go with it, or, at least not that defined as I saw in the images you posted.
Me either -- I didn't know the engine could DO that?
Not to call you a liar, but do you have any further screenshots for proof?
It was... thats why it looked so bad. The shadow didn't even fall across the floor, it was just hovering in midair like that (as can be seen in the 2nd pic).
its disabled.
personaly, I loved it, thought it made it look a hell of a lot better.
it just creats the shadow strait from the bottom of the model, so its not going to be able to go down multiple levels
but it used to be client side
BUT
you can still use it in blue shift

For something like the hive, where the shadow floated in midair, it looked terrible. But when someone was walking along a flat surface, watching the realistic shadow of the fade, it just looked sweet.
