eheheheh i sacraficed several major exams to learn lurk flying but still - i think its good that its being changed - i love flyin but its still limited atm
chances after their changed you will be able to fly easier no matter how you learned before. I hope so at least, I feel like im trying to fly a pregnant pig every time i play right now

Well I WOULD like it to be like JPs in the sense that u hold rather than tap. But it would need to be tweaked a bit so u would thrust in the direction of your facing and not just UP and FORWARD like the JP

I *seriously* doubt the "hit jump to flap" element of lerk flight is going anywhere; it has been Flay's vision of lerk flight since the very beginning. More likely what is changing will be things like turning speed, momentum, falling speed, etc. We'll see.
I think that the lerk flying physics r ok, except for the fact that they slow down a lot if u just hold down spacebar to glide <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->, wtvr, they can change what they want. its probably for the better neways

I think it's the intuitive way of represent the flapping of a winged creature in an FPS.
In terms of the lerk in v1.04, I think some tweaking to the physics of Lerk flight might not be a bad thing. It is far from horrible right now, but I think there is room for improvement.

the one thing id like to see is if you turn your wings in a certain direction, you start turning towards that direction. thats how wings work, right? instead of turning and having to flap frantically just to turn.

I have no real opinion one way or the other if flight is changed. So long as you still tap spacebar to flap and hold it to glide, which is a really great feeling IMO, having it a bit easier to control can't be bad. It shouldn't anything too simple, like you just point and click at where you want to go, but tweaks in the turning speed and momentum would be fine.

Not such a good idea to use the word "hard" there, it's not very accurate and can mean a few different things :\
I agree with you, its pretty much my gaming philosophy. If you want to make lerk flight interesting, make sure it is done in such a way as to leave lots of headroom for people to advance their skill at it. This doesn't necessarily mean that taking off and flying down a coridoor can't be extremely easy. Just there has to be potential there for people who are extremely good at flying to shine above people who have just picked it up. Take JPing for example, its "easy" to JP in the sense that anyone can use it to fly up to a vent or get off the floor to avoid a skulk. But with the way the air control is done there is potential for a good jetpacker to move around the map much faster, or dodge more accurately than any generic new player. Flying doesn't have to be "hard" it just has to have plenty of depth to it.
The lerk always was a weird beast to fly even after you got it down, only wish that the hanging from the ceiling change would have made it into this version, but perhaps its part of the making the lerk easier to control, not to start any drama about that idea in this thread.
As an aside, a few of the modifications listed in the changelog are quite ambiguous at this point, I think we should wait for the next changelog before we debate those particular points, though so far it seems they are the only ones getting any posts.

Guys, if you REALLY want to see how bad the lerk flying is, create a game, type sv_cheats 1, sv_airaccelerate 3000, and fly with a lerk then change it back to default, and play. BIG DIFFERENCE
