Aliens will need a huge remodling for AvA to work...
If I had a choice between a marine vs. marine server, a kharaa vs. kharaa server, or a regular server, i'd pick the regular server. I could see the other choices being interesting at first and I'd try them out of curiousity, but I think the way alien and marine weapons work would make same race combat extremely boring. Why? Well...
The whole fun of ns is exploiting the advantages you have over your enemy. If you have no real advantages over your enemy then the gameplay degenerates down to simple deathmatch where pure skill reigns supreme. If I was interested in that, I would be playing quake dm, or ut2003.
And I guess thats my point. There's many other games out there that do deathmatch a lot better than a bastardized ns mod would. If that's what you want, go shell out the money and play one of them. Or don't shell out the money and go play hldm, or cs, or dod, or firearms; the list goes on.

Yes, I also thought of this. With the mobility and speed of a skulk, just trying to stay alive as a gorge would be a nightmare.
- Both team based: yes - Both some game style: not really - Same objectives: na - Some settings: ehhhh dun think so - What about the comm thing: Yeah never seen a comm in cs unless u mean a squad leader - And the round based thing: Nope - Fight over resources: Maybe its like hostages but then again i never seen somebody moving rt's - The annoying radio in italy: I tried to shoot everything but couldnt get rid of the ns background music

I think MvM will be just perfect, commanders really can test their skills and c who is better. As for AvA, it be like a battle over the hives, or rt's since the new resourse model system in 1.1
If u dont like AvA, or MvM. What the heck? dont play it then

I personally don't like the idea at all. NS must remain alien vs marine. I haven't heard anything about same race vs same race since 1.1 details have been released so it looks like I'll be happy for a while.

Marine vs Marine battles will be great. Mainly as the reliance on capturing 2 hives will be gone. This means you can have a true front line, rather than connected pockets of resistance (yes I know thats what M vs A is supposed to be). Can you imagine having a huge front line, 3 bases all under constant attack, and visa versa. HA/HMG battles, this will be perfectly balanced.
If we can already make these battles, will a mapper please get around to doing it!!!
