The field of view should be a togable option,
What it does to the player is gives him the sense a 6 dimensional plane of existence, I personally found it really neat in avp2 when I finally grasped the concept that there are now walls and everything is simply ground, the what you call disorienting effect worked on me in a very immersing manner such as you bob mouth view, I think if you strive to immerse the player to the point where you create a bomb mouth view , its kind of silly to give up the rotating FOV, and by this I don’t mean that it a player has to be locked into it, but rather a option like others said,
plz be responsible moderators and do not lock this thread as there are many evident supporters of the idea overall.
Sincerely
Sam

Also keep in mind this dev team is not going to be adding anything and everything into the game just because it sounds cool. That's called "Feature Creep", and it can seriously hinder a games progress, if not destroy the game itself.
That said, I'd love to see a rotating POV, but it simply isn't going to happen. Like comprox said, if it ever does happen, it's probably not going to be in the first release... but I doubt their opinion on the matter isn going to change all of a sudden for version 2. I guess anything could happen though.

A rotating FOV could very well happen in the future, but it's not happening for our first public release, there's just not time for it.
I'd like to know why they do that, though.
I have no beefs with the current wall-climbing system at all, It is very fun. It requires skill, moreso than the AvP2 system. If rotating views were added it would be good if they defaulted to either 0,90,180 and 270 degrees of rotation. No matter what the angle of the wall is, your view just snaps to the closest 90 degree angle. This would make wall-climbing just a little more believable. Another thing that would make wall-climbing better is rotating models, maybe another day.
