Do Senory Chambers Cloak Themselves, Too?

T_T_HT_T_H Join Date: 2003-05-01 Member: 15977Members

...and some other sensory questions...
Question: sensory chambers cloak all other structures and aliens within range, but do they cloak themselves, too?

If a cloaked structure is being shot, will it get visible? ("wanna-see-that-alien-base LMG sweep")

How do the aliens notive that their structures are cloaked?

Thanks & Bye,
T.T.H.

becasue the sensory cloaks all structures, this does include itself

it says that stuctures only uncoack when they attack or are scanned. this lead me to believe that they do not become visible when you hit them.

Yes, chambers are cloaked, too.
Hit targets, as well as attacking objects, get visible for a second - thus my new love for the shotgun.
Aliens see all cloaked structures transparent.

becuase the shotty has such a wide spread of fire at long range, it can show up a wol by shooting in the general direction yes?

More or less. You won't see everything, but if one shot reveals more than three targets, you get the idea

i have another question about sens chambers, when clocking hives, will it be invisible like a skulk, or invisible like an unbuilt hive (a see thru model of the hive)

also i like the fact that you can move while cloaked around sens chambers, that and movements = ownage, cant see or hear them!

Im curious will buildings be completely hidden from rines unless uncloaked or will they be partly visible like the aliens are now??

MonKey-TurD - most likely it will be completely transparent, although it may confuse the newbies. there is not much point in making the hive invisible because everyonbe knows where they are, so they could just as well be transparent like unbuilt ones instead, leaving the mariunes to believe that the hive room is empty and the aliens have not made it there yet.

"WTH?? there was a hive here a minute ago OMG Teh h4x"

or even some of the more experienced gorges.

"now, where did i leave that hive. i know its here somewhere..."

Roger Dodger -- completly hidden unless attacking or being attacked

Hmmm........If cloaked buildings show up as semi-transparent to aliens won't a cloaked hive look almost like an unbuilt one? I know they could just check on the HUD but it seems like slight oversight.

a unclaoked sensory would be a nice surprise for newbs.
'rine: oh look, there is only on sensory there, i'm gonna knife it
(gets in firing range of OCs that were cloaked and dies)
'rine: OMG there building are uinvisible, THEY USE H4X

im so hyped about sens chambers, even now its so fun to sneaking between turrets (you have to do it tenchu style when the turrets arent looking so you can move and cloak again without them shooting at you) where the marines THINK its safe, but it isnt! CHOMP FUN!
at least i will be able to do that without the game resulting in an overall loss

oh oh i got another good idea, do that sneak up thing with a gorge, and build an sens, then like 4-5 offensive chambers around it!

Is everything still cloaked at 95% from the chamber or is it 100% now?
• JowerJower Join Date: 2003-02-12 Member: 13448Members
Prolly 100%

What I'm wondering is
If you get cloaked by a sensory chamber
How will you know ?
Will it be a message like the "in umbra" or "parasited" ?

cloaked buildings will still clip right?
or will marines just walk tru them?

Jower:seeing cloaked things like 1.04 is done by using the alien equivilant of flashlight which lets you see all things transparant. if you are cloaked your model (your teeth) become transparaentish, it is very easy to tell.

dizzy.souls: if a marine walks into a cloaked building he will stop moving

cloak is 100% at sensory chambers

Ello: an unbuilt hive looks identical to a cloaked hive, but you can check your status bar to see that it is building, other then that all the structures (which are completely cloaked: you cant have a partialy cloaked building) will show up fine

I will just tell you guys cloak and scilence is a very deadly combo, no sound, no sight, no chance

What exactly is the range that you have to be within to be cloaked?

I'm guessing the improved accuracy on hmgs must help with cloaked chambers too. If the aliens make the mistake of leaving their sensories in line of site the smaller firing arc on the hmg should give marines a chance to take out the cloaking from a distance by focusing on the sensories.

I don't know the exact numbers, but I'd say cloaking has an area of effect that's 1000 to 1500 units in diameter (comparable to a sieges range in 1.00). Finding the cloaked chamber in such an area is quite a challenge. It's usually easier to ask the commander for a sweep.

so can you now move around with cloak on.

Is that the same with the upgrade, where you can move cloaked?
• Frogg2Frogg2 Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4867Members, Constellation
no the cloaking upgrade didn't change from 1.04 to the best of my knowledge.

you can only move around cloaked while in range of a sensory chamber.
• Nemesis_ZeroNemesis_Zero Old European Join Date: 2002-01-25 Member: 75Members, Retired Developer, NS1 Playtester, Constellation
You can move cloaked within the area of a chamber, you can not (or only very sparsely) move while cloaked from the upgrade, which does, however, not cost 20RP for each area.

Does walking uncloak you, as in 1.04? (With the upgrade I mean)

When an alien comes to a sensor cloacking range, does it just dissapear?

I'd love to see that there is a small area where the alien isn't fully cloacked, but hollow. so that a skulk, which runs towards sensory, starts to fade towards full cloacking.

In other words: It would look ugly if the cloacking is just one invisible line so that you could just press forward just a bit to become fully visible, and again press backward just a bit to become again fully cloacked.

There's a pretty snazzy 'fade in /out' sequence whenever any form of cloaking is triggered. Especially cool when a leaping skulk uncloaks while travelling in your direction.

o man i cant wait for those leaping skulks flying out of those sens chambers as Nem said i have a question.... o i probably already know the answer to this but nobody has asked this. Will the Sens Chambers effects take place outside of a wall?? What if the wall was uber thing Im guessing you would have to see the Sens Chamber to get its effects.
