<div class="IPBDescription">..</div> Ok, this is the first room of my first map i've done since about 1996 when i was involved in the Quake scene. Things've changed a lot since then, but the principle's the same.

<b>EDIT:</b>
Ok, a little backstory on the map. It's set on the Deus (Latin for god) Orbital Space Artillery Cannon. A orbiting cannon basically intended to provide massive damage and artillery support on a planet from the safety of space. That's the skinny of it, i will be releasing a full back story and so on when the map's about 90% done.
For the thing i'm talking about, think Zeus from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, or the cannon i +really+ can't remember the name of from Akira.

But yeah, i see what you mean, i'll put one or two little spots ont he ceiling next to it.
I've essentially wasted two days of hard mapping work, and also quite a substantial amount of time neglecting my girlfriend for nothing.
I made a bit of a schoolboy error and accidently deleted the ready room + another room and saved it without noticing. I might add, NEVER use the carve function in the new hammer, it means death if you're carving anything more than a cube.
RIP ns_deus. May one day come i find the time and effort to start over >_<.
::esuna::, you've compiled it at least once before, so simply open up the .map file in hammer and you should get your map back again. (I do this all the time)
Unless you exported again after the deletion... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

I had exported, but i realised something, at one point i copied the map to another folder to run a leak test on it. So i have an old version, which thankfully also has the finished ready room in it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

This is "Fire Command". Read my edited first post for a little background on the map.
That hive is a deathtrap, give it another enterance-exit. currently, the marines can simply stroll into the hallway outside the door, build turrets and sieges, and it's over.

The door at the end is a non worker, the main entrance accesable will be underneath the main walkway in a set of human sized conduits so the hive isn't visible from the doorway. Also behind the pipes on the far side will be vent access, also you can't see the hive from this location. Soon will be another vent or two, depending as to which layout i intend to take <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> This is muchly a work in progress, but please rest assured that i will have as many balancing issues as i can sorted by the time it's released.
<img src='http://deus.org.uk/files/ns_deus.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
I've tried +extremely+ hard to cater for Onos in this, put in one or two "choke" points, make the vents not the be all and end all to a map, but also keeping them handy as not to be obsolete. And also taking into account siege outposts (except one hive, hive 3, is un-siegable, except inside the actual room). I've never noticed how many things you have to take into account in NS mapping, damn it's hard work, heh.
We can actually understand!
Right now, i can see a few hallways with high r_speeds like the one right in the middle.
Could be fixed with enough height variations though...
the lower left res node seems a little too out of the way.
and its your first map for half-life <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
that would be awesome , post 2 more screenies plz. its VERy inspiring <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Hmm, i was thinking that too, i might rejig it about a bit, make the double res room in the middle. It's not +quite+ so easy for hive 3 aliens to get there, but it's still a short distance in comparison to the rest / marine start.
Oh, and i used photoshop to do this, purely because it has a grid i can use / snap to. So it was very easy to keep it uniformed and so on. And, well, i am a designer, heh.
New screenies will appear when i've done a bit more work on it (had to backtrack and redo a lot based on errors i didn't know how to fix because i'm new to HL mapping <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ).
Just for anyone interested, i've added my map to <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/' target='_blank'>NS World</a>, it can be found <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/Map.php?UniqueID=220' target='_blank'>here</a>.
There's one new shot there, and 2 old ones. But it is coming along, slowly but surely.
I think the cannon is named "Sol" which means "sun" in latin and swedish which is one reason why I remember its name, the other reason is that I've listened to a track which sampled "It's Sol sir!".
It would be jolly good if the posted images were downsized since the screenshot stretches my measly 1024 resolutions and makes it a tad annoying to read. The layout image is a perfect size for my resolution.
The infestation ends a bit abrubt in the unnamed hive otherwise it doesn't look too shabby.
Mozilla firebird (formerly pheonix) does that for you, in addition to being the best browser out there.
Also IE does this for you too. I realise they're big, but i'd prefer to have bigger images than people complaining they're too small ^_^
And Wolhay, thanks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Perhaps there are options that I've failed to discover.
Nooo, nowhere near it, about a quarter of it is done, but i'm doing the whole thing, detail and all as i'm going along (rather than just designing the basic layout and adding as i go along) And out of that quarter done a +LOT+ is going to change, so until a final release i'm less than 10% done <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Just trying to give regular-ish updates on it so you can see how it develops.
