27 images, some old many new.
I've been real busy lately with real life work work, so i've been working on romana mostly during the evenings and weekends.
Here are the images, i apologise to those on 56k but i had to upload them AND cache them so *shrug*
These are meerly progress shots, nothing is necessarily final or complete but just to give you some idea on how it's moving along.
The images have been gamma corrected so some may look a little washed out.
some areas are a bit dark or bland etc, but as i said - it's work in progress.

In the 2nd pic, the room to the right, I think it would look nice foggy.

Looks awesome narby, I like the cramped feel, very claustrophobic, but seems very fitting to me.

I especially like shots #13, #14, #18, #22, but they all look very nice, natch

Wow, nice work! I wish I could map even 1/1000000th that well...

Here's my bit of constructive criticism...the earlier shots look kinda 2-D, by that I mean they need more vertical space. Not just for looks, it needs some accessible space high up and down low. Maybe add some hallway juncions that are taller and meet on different levels...

    But overall very nice looking

Excellent work as usual. I never see anything wrong with your maps, they just rule.

Very nice. That one hallway with the haze at the end is sweet looking.

I'll leave the constructive criticism up to the other mappers. I just noticed one little nitpicky thing which seemed a little weird, which was that the lava waterfall you have in the 10th pic down is not glowing like the rest of the lava. Told you it was nitpicky

    I just realized I was giving advice to N@rby...what was I thinking...he is a l33t mapper, he knows what he's doing...oh well, I'm only a drone...

Your lack of mapping knowledge is god send to narby and the others. Your crazy demands for things that are seemingly impossible in worldcraft push them to finds unique amazing work arounds.

One of my roommates in college this last year had never played HL, and to date probably still never has. My mom hasn't even played a first person shooter. Yet they've come up with some of the most interesting suggestions I've heard. Not all are possible, but those that are are occasionally better than the ones I get from those with editing experience.

Whoa! looks really good! I like the closeness of it all.

    Few suggestions tho,
In the 4th shot theres two bluey-green lights that are giving of a colour that looks a bit too white...maybe its just the floor clolour tho.

7nth shot, the glow sprite on the light looks odd cos its a bit too short, height wise.

    Pic 11, those pipes RULE!

Them duct type things in pic 13 would probably benifit from some PS steam?

Theres a man hiding in the shadows in pic 16!!

Pic 24, the light has a haze on it, but the molton metal (?) doesnt..seems a bit odd.

ya i know what you mean. It's really easy to get over immersed in level design to the point where you just lose all sight of diversity and good design. Sometimes it's really helpful having someone who's never been involved just providing occasional ideas.

Wow, narbs, this is really, really, really great. Best work I've ever seen from you. I love pic 5, and all those that Cadaver listed.
One thing, in pic 8, the texture in the middle right above the cam, and also in pics 15 and 21, was removed from the latest ns.wad (I think). If it wasn't, it was supposed to be.
Also, in the 1st pic, there is a slight texture malignment on that left diagonal. Sorry if it was already mentioned, I kinda skimmed.

yeah, unfortunately nos_wall3 (i think thats what it is) apparently is a quake 3 texture or something and is a big no-no for map use now.

    Once again N@rby you suprise me. That's a wonderful map you got in your hands(kinda). Anyways for some ideas;

The first pic's hallway is quite small. I mean the thing would be literally impossible for an Alien to get through without getting killed by a siege or turret placed at the middle.

It seems like the infestation cuts out a bit to fast in this one and this one. Also the big cylinder should be somewhat infested. That hive room would look perfect with some kind of mist creeping out of the cylinder.
