You can go to any cheap computer shop or a market and find games with a £5 price tag, released recently but using a five year old engine which has become freeware, with a box cover designed in Paint, and it will still say "This game will redefine the RTS genre with it's breathtaking graphics. The visuals in this game will set a new standard for other developers to work to." Then you see it runs in a fixed 640x480 2D view. There is nothing to stop people making outrageous claims on the backs of boxes or on websites.
Also... keep this inmind... NS HAS (IMHO) redifined game MODDING.... NS is has little to do with the game it mods, and it has added SOOO much to the game engine that it's stunningly GOOD... *I have a freind who's a UT fanatic... and I actually got him drooling over NS when he played it the other day.... I mean... NS is just that DAMN good!*
Anyway.... heh.. that game can't hold a candle to NS... NS has done so much with so little... How many games do you know that run off an outdated engine? How many mods do you know ADDED a particle system to the game? I mean....... *suddenly realizes he's standing on a soapbox, so he gets off of it.. and walks away self consciously*

Of course, someone will eventually make a multiplayer mod for D3, but that means more time will have to be spent refining the multiplayer part and less time on the mod itself. I believe their reasoning was something like "making maps is too complicated and time consuming for the average mod dev, so we left it out".

Savage would probably feel more like warcraft 3 or something in first person
hey its in the same genre as NS so its worth a try needs more than one type of gameplay if its professionally made tho.... man these topics are getting old :\

Like it or not, CS is the mother of all mods. And no game out there can reach it in terms of number of players.
Im in the savage beta (one of the 200 out of 15,000 applications) and let me say that its NOT like NS. The resource model is built much closer to WC3, people fighting eachother is more like a random mad dash at eachother. Right now it really lacks the skill that NS requires.
Im looking forward to Unreal Annihilation it looks to be very good, dont know how it will stack up against NS but it will be good, RTS regardlesss.

...But won't they get foxed? I thought the publisher still owned the rights to the TA brand.
