anybody who isn't having fun betatesting should resign or be kicked off. sure it is a little work reporting bugs/exploits but you're playing a game for christ's sake. if you consider it work and not fun then you don't deserve the priviledge of participating in beta. if you think its such a hassle there are thousands of people out there waiting eagerly to take your place, so just get lost, cause you're obviously delirious. everyone who i've talked to beta testing wc3 and wc3:tft are having a blast
If at every mention of BETA there was also a non-subtle mention of WORK, things like this might go away. Of course, there wouldn't be many beta-testers either. Doubly so if you threw in NO PAY and FOLLOW RULES.

*shrug* I enjoy the game and since the NS team isn't getting paid. And I also figure if I can waste 30-50 bucks on a crummy retail game. I can donate towards a good game. People shouldn't need rewards for their donations. Even if you can't afford to donate cash, you can still promote the game through a fan site and help expose the mod.
The game is well established and they have a good idea on what makes a tester.
i'd send off my constellation donation right away if i could test ns 1.1 <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

So you have a pre-requisite on your 'donation'? Then it's not a donation, it's a service fee. And we've not 'charged' anyone service fees for anything we've done so far.
Charlie could just as easily, day one, decided that NS would be a retail product only.. and then you wouldn't have had any of this free goodness.
Please take your bad attitude out and shoot it.

Firstly, we don't have 'investors' in NS giving us cash for 'special treatment'. The only investors that get any special 'treatment' are the members of the dev team and testing teams. They get the special benefit of *investing* lots of time *working hard* on improving NS. Some would not see this as a benefit (some definitely don't).
FYI, the biggest 'investor' in NS is Flayra... he's pumped over 2 years of his life into it as well as his life savings. (I'm aware of the figure and it's NOT SMALL!)
We only have the wonid's of people who are in the constellation program, are testers or devs. You're none of these so why would we have your wonid?
People *donate* out of the goodness of their hearts so that the devs (Flayra in particular) can work on NS night and day to make a great game. If not for the largese of the constellation donators, NS 1.1 would be a 'hobby' project that Flayra works on when he can get time from a full-time job... and it's advance would be very slow. (and yes, it's slow now but I still maintain that 1.1 should really be 2.0. It's less of a fix than a huge new version...)
In return, we *acknowledge* this charity from people by showing the world that they are the people helping to make NS 1.1 a reality. By giving them an icon in game, everyone can see that this person is someone who has helped to make NS 1.1 happen.
Flayra, I'm sure, could be off earning 6 figures in another part of the gaming industry or elsewhere in the IT business if he so wanted. Instead, he lives on a shoe-string, pouring all of his talent and energy into NS for the benefit of folks like you, and his thanks comes to this.
So you, your attitude and your opinion on what constellation members 'get' can take a long leap off of a short pier. You haven't earned the right to question the ethics or logistics of the constellation program. You've stated that you're not even a member. Please go away now before I really lose my temper.

That's a fair enough point. I think that Flayra, for obvious reasons, treats NS as his baby. For that reason he likes people to see it at it's best. He wants you to be wowed by it (and I think you will be by 1.1) rather than sick of getting patch after patch (which happens in beta testing).
So, while it's a good idea, I'm not sure it's a runner.

Ok, it appears it was a failure of communication. I, personally, read that completely differently, (i.e. the opposite of what you intended to say).
The sentiment you are going for is the opposite of what I thought <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> and admirable.
