AFAIK, the very first Natural Selection Clan, started by Fam. EC = Evolutionarily Challenged. They're the ones with the pretty sigs all over the boards.
Ah. I see. Well, whatever. I'll just assume people are gonna put [NSF] before/after their names to signify they are L337 Team-players and from this forum or something.
Hmmmmm...it seems as though this thread went from, "let's create a guild," to, "everyone here put [NSF] in your name, so we know it's you!"
With this warping, I debated whether or not to just start a whole new thread. I still may, but for now, why add to the clutter? The original idea was that we know there are llamas out there, so how do we know if we're playing with someone good or not. Someone brought up the Online Warfare Pact, which was totally new to me. I looked it up, and I think it's a brilliant idea. This is not a clan being created, with rigorous schedules to keep, and it's not just some tag to identify yourself as a forum-goer. In wearing the badge, you can go on any server, anytime, and anyone who recognizes the tag knows that you have agreed to a certain set of rules, and will play according to those rules.
If anyone wants to read the OwP rules themselves, you can click <a href="http://www.tbd-uk.com/owp/documents/coc.htm" target="_blank">here</a> or here's a <a href="http://www.clanvii.org/codeofwar.asp" target="_blank">similar set of rules</a>.
Thus, in putting the [NSF] tag on your name, you agree to the following (Note: this is not an all-inclusive list, and may change at any time, depending on popular opinion. May not be available in all states. Void where prohibited.)
1. I will not reveal my total lack of talent as a player by cheating. This includes aim-bots, wall-hacks, and bug or map exploits. If you suspect someone may be cheating, collect what evidence you can and report them to an admin.
2. I will not act in a rude and disruptive manner. It's naughty, and it ain't no fun to watch. This includes spamming the chat, racist or sexist remarks, or vulgar language. IF I observe such behavior going on, I may comment on it briefly in the hopes that it will stop, but I will not allow myself to be dragged down to their level, not will I ever kill a teammate, no matter the provocation. If I observe such actions occurring, I will first try to search out a server admin. That failing, I may revert back to the tried-and-true voodoo dolls.
3. I will be helpful to newbies. I was once a newbie, and asked many of the same questions, and made several of the same mistakes.
4. I will encourage and strive for team play. I will encourage the use of team tactics. I recognize the not doing to will send me to the sixth concentric cirle of Dante's easy-bake for eternity.
5. I will lead by example. In playing, I represent not only myself, but also the NSF. Playing honorably is the best way to ensure that everyone enjoys their game. Playing dishonorably is a quick trip straight to Heck.
OK, folks, I relaize I ripped pretty much all of these straight out of the OwP, but why fix something that works? I realize some things may need to be added, or changed, but I'm not putting the [NSF] tag on my name until I know that everyone with the tag has agreed to the same set of rules. Makes it feel more...official, or something.
I'd love to hear your thoughts...

The part about being an honourable member of NSF cracks me up.... I just can't get over the idea of being an "honourable" member of a terrosit organisation... even if it is NSF in Deus Ex.....
But yeah I think the terms a good and easy to understand.
I HEREBY SWEAR THAT FROM THIS DAY FORWARD I WILL ABIDE BY THE RULES AND TERMS SET BY THE NSF CONVENTION (or whatever we are going to call it <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo--> )

Plz use the newer thread, and the answer to ur question is, all that matters are the letters. <a href="http://www3.telus.net/peaches/nsf/nsf.html" target="_blank">The page I made to put stuff down for NSF</a>.
