Its just annoying that people actually believe this stuff. Cause to me its is soo obviously flawed. So obvious that its hard not to make fun of it. Soo obviously stupid that it borders on offensive.
I could write a reasoned 10,000 word essay about how psi vampires arent real, however I think ideas should be able to stand or fall on their own merits infront of reasonably intelligant people. And I would have thought that psi vampires could be ridiculed on their own merits.
I am very glad that someone picked up on that fact that i tend to suscribe to nhilism and athesism. Although I didnt want to outrightly say so.
So thanks, and I will stop posting, cause I think you know enough of my views. Feel free to share. Sorry for the flames.
Anyway since spacemonkey has stirred things the wrong way in this thread I'm going to shed some light on the psionics issue. From skimming (I repeat skimming) that link it seems they are presenting a simplistic version of this practice. Generally psi and it's sub-categories fall into the realm of channel your body's natural energy (yes your body has energy inside of it) one that most of you would probably be familiar with is thai chi. Anyway I don't know about telling someone to go "try" psionics, it's a bit like telling someone to go "try" breaking a brick with there head when they've had no practice at it.
And space you shouldn't be glad that I picked up on it. Nihlism is more silly than this any day and nihlist are very easy to pick out because of their hypocritcal ideals (no offense). I can debunk Nihlism with one statement "If nothing in life means anything why not just kill yourself.". I've had lengthy discussion with people who apply to Nihlistic views and they always talk around this issue and when it comes down to it all Nihlists believe in one thing, their self-importance : P
And for those of you who were wondering telekenisis is an obscure from of psi and actually has very little to do with it in general. It's just glamorized to be like "ooo look I can move stuff with my mind". In reality psionics is just like Kung Fu in real life, it takes a lot of practice and it isn't nearly as cool as movies make it out to be.
We need more threads like this. Flaming is so much fun to read. I do not really believe in this psyball subject, but you never know what is real or not. One time this tai-chi teacher I knew held his palm to my chest and did a light thrust and I fell backwards 5 feet. He said that your chi or positive energy, something to do with the yin-yang, had an effect on the energy that is transfered throughout your body.

I will admit that there have been extreme cases (in the field of Taoism) where people have done physically impossible things. In terms of mind to mind stuff, I can believe its possible. Two similar electrical systems causing interference with each other, that happens every time my pute is on near my TV. There was also a study recently (using a computer based heads or tails flipping program) and it showed that seemingly the viewer could have an impact on the results (I think it was on Tomorrow's World). What's that do to your classic Newtonian observer eh?
I try to keep an open mind.
