But, strangly enough, I also remember the caged marine start with mess hall, weird eh? I guess I really dont know which map was my first, caged or nancy... Either way, I'm gonna be pretty bumed to see it go.
The reason I dont play DoD anymore, is that all the good old maps, were removed when v1.0 was released. Sure, new maps are great, but they will never replace the good old maps. I know you cant argue with the devs, but I really think they're doing the wrong thing by removing nancy.

Y'know, you'd have thought that since it's mentioned every few posts here that it would have sunk in (that's a little joke there) by now that <b>Nancy is unplayable, incompatable, broken, and fluffed in 2.0</b>. Just sayin'.
I'm sure if y'all want to see for yourselves you can try running Nancy when 2.0 comes ouut, and see how you like being an onos there.

So will there be a replacement map for nancy in the future? Because we are now one map down...11 official maps is now 10 official maps... Could anyone take the task into their own hands and recreate Nancy with Flayra' permission?

I hated this map for so long! Just recently I started to like the map and now love it!!! Why did you have to wait for me to like the map before taking it out!!!???
Like a lot of other people it was my favourite map. Many of the battles for mess hall and mother interface were intense. I've watched them from comm and been involved in them as a player. I taught myself commanding in this level since it was the first I played and everyone was a newb when I was a newb.
it was on nancy that i had one of my most memorable moments in NS...Raving fades & gorges in the readyroom to part of Reel2Real's "I like to move it move it" looped over and over. I laughed so hard I had trouble breathing. Oh, the memories <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> GG, nancy, may you be remembered in fondness.
The best thing about nancy was the vents. If you spent enough time, you could figure out what hive you wanted to go to via the vents. I used to do this all the time with my jetpack to avoid possible confrontations and attack the hive. I think this map was one of the most well-designed vent maps, so props to the map designer and you should have an expert try and heal that harddrive, because it can be done. I have seen harddrives fall off a 10 story building while on fire and still be recovered with minimal data loss. A hard drive crash is usually easy to heal.
Who made it? I wonder if he still has the hard drive, we could start up a fund to pay for his HD to have its contents recovered from one of those places that do it.

Actually, this could bring SOME good, this should encourage people try some more new maps (i.e: Rampage, Hydrosity (defintely you either love it or hate it map), Karnak (very good map that very few people know of), Greian etc)
You should all go download those maps and come play them at my server :-p

I hate to be the one to point out the obvious, but has anyone actually tried decompiling the BSP with winbsp? I realise that sometimes winbsp **** some things up - but perhaps it can get a .map that its possible to modify slightly to get it working again.
And to the person that asked about winbsp - Yes, winbsp does convert from .bsp to .map. Worldcraft/hammer can open .map files.
winbsp doesn't recreate the map properly. It would have massive r_speeds and probably wouldn't even compile. The best winbsp could do is to make a template.
Perhaps there's some "elite" mapper out there who can edit the bsp file itself. :o

I never really liked nancy, since it was always the NEXT map in the cycle and I got irritated of it, but it's still sad to see it go. Hell, it was the first map I ever played!
Serisously......from what I've heard Winbsp only SOMETIMES messes up the map....isint it worth a shot? and even at that, a partially messed up Nancy would be easier to fix than rebuilding it from scratch, and ANYTHING is better than no Nancy at all.......I would do it but i have no worldcraft skills at all, lol
And onto the Onos thing....man, i wont say much because I dont have near the experiance with NS as some of you do, but i have NEVER seen an Onos get stuck on Nancy, and infact its the only map I've NEVER gotton stuck on as Onos....I've seen Onos roam all over that map, storm our base like crazy...and i even got to fight one with my LMG.......i was in that vent just outside marine start so he couldnt reach me, lol Now granted, thats only on 1.04, but i cant imagine the stuck issue would have gotten WORSE...that seems counter productive, and infact I've seen in the changelogs a number of fixes for the Onos stuck issue...
