I'm sure MonsE has many suprises waiting for us when we play 2.0 for the first time. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Wait....so does this mean motion tracking has been changed to being a representation on the minimap instead of on the HUD? Is it....unbroken at last?!?!
Been followin NS since before it's release on Oct. 31st, 2002 and have been just a "lurker" of the forums and community till now. This new mini-map made me wanna register to say how FREAKING AWESOME it is!! It just OOOOOZZZESSS sexyness and effort. 2.0 has really been worth the wait and can hardly contain myself till Thursday. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
Thanks to everyone who has made NS possible. From the Devs to the Constellation members to the Mappers and especially the playtesters. OMG!!!!
one thing, just a little thing. Wouldnt it better if the symbols(hives, RTs, marines..etc) would be smaller? not much, just a little. but it looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHH!!!
Holy Crap, I really dont know what to say! This is really a huge improvement for the marines! Thanks to Max for making this, it looks so **** beautiful!
serious.. I think marines should not have too much aid navigating through the maps. Makes the game more tense..
I want to say that if marines can always see where their teammates are its like some indirect wallhack. This was implemented in cs so that if you hear someone coming from that door and you can see all your teammates are far away on radar then its like a wallhack.
That mini map is sick!!! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

First, it makes sense... We can display waypoints on the HUD, but we can't show you where your buddies are?
Second, it's not that bad. Chances are, with a decent comm, you should have a pretty good idea what's going on anyways. This just lowers the strain on your brain, no more trying to remember if Johnny is holding Reception or Holoroom... And, anyways, marines have motion tracking, so it's not like they're not wallhacking enough already!
There's no reason marines should be ignorant of the situation with their own units and buildings around the map. Marines should have the knowledge advantage; after all, they're on manmade ships with an extensive command network covering the entire area. Why shouldn't the network be able to uplink some information to the Marine HUDs? This will be a godsend in pub servers.
I think the large-map will have a groundbreaking effect on public marine teamplay. One of the most difficult tasks for me as a marine has been finding teammates after death and this kind of clear map showing location of everyone will undoubtedly have a large impact. Hopefully the map won't show the location of every single sentry turret since sentry-spamming might occur again now that sentries are cheap. Besides, if there are many sentries around the map and they are somewhat weak (meaning 1-2 gets easily destroyed even in light-attacks), the map will function as a weak form of hivesight showing marines where sentries go down and thus where aliens are attacking. This kind of eats away alien sneak attacks, but I can't really say if it's realistic to expect marines check the map 2 times a second just to see a sentry disappear... I'm not sure either if showing marines any turrets/buildings besides RTs is even necessary. Unless you want marines to supervise the way commander builds.

Well... as much fun as the new minimap is, it *does* take a good bit from the Comm. Marines are supposed to be single-point-of-contact for informational relay. I'd say it needs to be tested for balance, but we don't have time. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
(edit) and AFAIK it's not determined if the togglable full-screen minimap will still be there in the final release. (/edit)

+ are the white arrows on your minimap your teammate directions?
Awsome job! That is just the icing on the metaphorical 2.0 cake.
No, seriously!

I wont get lost on ns_lost (<i>/shields face from retaliatory flames due to bad pun</i>)
That said, it's time for me to say the same old crap now:
PUT MOTION TRACKING EXCLUSIVLY ON THOSE NEW SEXY(very) MINI MAPS!!!!
Some other questions:
- Do waypoints show up on that map?
- Do aliens show up on those mini maps(the large and the small ones) if other marines see them?
No it's not who you think it is:)
