I love 2.0 gorge! I will chose that over the quick kill onos any day. I do think the 'getting a little extra res from the node you built' idea is pretty good. If comms can get res from the turrets other people build (yeah, I know it all goes to the team), then gorges that build res should be rewarded a little.
Saying that, I dont mind the current res system, as long as other aliens do their job and cap nodes at the beginning instead of just being a greedy saver-for-onos.
I go gorge from start to finish because its what I'm best at and because I don't shove off towers in nub places. Played strategy games for years, so I know all about choke points, lures, and ambushes.
Yes, midgame it can get a bit slow but with the health spam you can catch wounded people midway to hive, and since you're always trawling for new RTs you usually catch up with your mates as they try to smash up a marine RT.
However, the slow bit of midgame affords you plenty of res for the endgame, which inevitably becomes a prolonged base rush. Up with the MT and DT and hoping that your teammates are competent skulk bombers, hehehe.
donating res would be devastating due to the fact that everyone starts out with 25 res now....
Imagine having 4 people on a 16 person team gorging.... grabbing the res from everyone else... going onos.. and 4 onos pouring into the marine start like 2 minutes into the game....NOT FUN
A thing many seem to overlook is that gorging costs 10 res. thats 2/3 of an rt, or 3 kills.
A dedicated gorge or two is still a good idea, if the team can spare the skulks, since if you return to skulk you just set yourself back 12 res (2 for skulking, 10 for re-gorging). That means you have to kill at least 4 rines to justify this expense.
A full-time gorge makes sense in 2.0, even with no bonus res. And since all aliens start with sufficient res for [gorge] > [rt] > [skulk], there is often a rush to rts, ending with that active rt count showing 7 vs 2. I usually gorge throughout the game when I play as alien, and I tend to get a nice res flow from all those rts.
This discussion about giving more res to gorges is pointless.
The title is also inapropriate. The fulltime gorges never even left. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
