    Just started playing 3 weeks ago. Thankfully, the n00b comments only lasted for about 2 days <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Well, I take that back. Some freak started giving me a hard time yesterday for going Fade (which in itself, apparently, is a whole 'nother debate)

    My first experiance in NS was joining a Marine team already under siege at their original base in Mineshaft. I was bombarded with every alien species all at once. I just about wet my pants when one brave Ohnos hit his Charge attack right at me. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    But still, I must of been fun to watch.

    I'm one of those stupid fades who tried to attack a marine using Metabilise.... at least 3 times before I figured out why it wasn't working.

    For 2 weeks, I kept mysteriously dying for no reason as a Marine.... it was only a week ago I figured out not to stand on Infantry Portals. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    And of course, I kept trying to bile bomb marines... it's even funnier to remember that half of them kept trying to dodge my shots.

    Skulking down a dark corridor, marveling at the spooky effects created by these mysterious strands of light that crisscrossed the corridor...... strands that I later ran into as a Marine and discovered was webbing.

    Oh, and the first map I was a Gorge... and I tried building the Offense Turrets I was making by throwing Heal Spray at them.

    Those of you who have patiently put up with my antics, thank you for teaching me. I hope I amused you somewhat with my antics. I hope I can be just as gracious to those who follow. In the meantime, watch those dark corners, I may decide to sneak up behind you and bite your kneecaps off in thanks. <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Ever notice how the inside of an Ohnos looks like a really bad case of Hemoroids?

    I started playing a few day's ago and I must have looked like a complete fool doing the same thing. At first I was actually using spit <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'm learning slowly. Reading these forums are really helping alot as I like this mod. I had to find my Half-life CD in a closet from a couple of years ago to play and then download a huge patch but it was worth it.

    I simply love beginners when they have HA + Grenade Launcher, thinking they're gonna annihilate the whole Kharaa Species. And 2 secondes after they've left their base, an Onos devour that poor lost HA guy.
    "WTHuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck !!!!?!?!!?<!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->"
    "You're being eaten by an Onos"
    "Get me outta here !!! GET ME OUTTA HEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE PLEASE !"
    BigOnos killed beginner with devour.
    "OMG.... Comm, can I have HA + GL please ?"

    That's all, folks.

    Awwww.

    Those cute little newbies ... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Being a newbie isn't always easy, especially when you're playing with a team who knows what is doing. You always feel like you should be doing something but you aren't... and that can be quite annoying.

    Yesterday night I was playing Kharaa. The game started and nobody wanted to go gorge, so I thought "wth, I'll try it". I built some rt´s a couple of oc´s, and then I went seeking more resource nodes... after five minutes or so... "WHERES OUR ******* SENSORY?<!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--><!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--><!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->?"
    Now I know that as Kharaa I should build the upgrade stuff early...

    Worse yet: Later that night, in another game, again as aliens, we were trying to get the double res room, but marines had begun building turrets. The team leader started telling us to go for it. So I go, and in the way one of the teammates says there´s only one marine left. When I reach the place, there´s two or three of 'em... Not to mention the kicked my skulky arse....
    I asked if it wasn't supposed to be nearly empty, and then the leader says: "Sure, it was, only that you took the longest way... a couple of times."
    I said I didn´t knew the map.
    Leader:"Then press the C key..."
    Now I know it.
    BTW: Thnx darkness for the helpful tips yesterday.

    I just love it when a newbie improves radically over a few maps. He starts out by having to be told how to evolve, and ends up getting devour kills or sporing a base to death. That's the kind of moment that gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling.
    On another note, I also love it when people swear at me for devouring them.
    Oh, and Cubanx, know that spit is great for luring those pesky rines to your OC trap.

    Newbies that actually listen to your advice and dont seem to wanna rambo and when you see them pick things up during the game as a follow on from your advice... gives me faith again that they're not all 12 y/o frag fanatics <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ....Their reaction when they first see a charging Onos. Or a cloaked onos.

    "Why is there an invisible wall here?"

    few secs later...

    *chomp*

    "? screens gone red! "

    I can remember a game on Hera, when 2.0 was almost out but it still was mostly a newbie server.

    It was great fun to see how they learned things as they literally explored the map, especially an exstatic "Hey comm, I think I just found another resource thingy" when they found a new resource nozzle.

    I remember my time as a newbie, I started as a skulk kept running between Feedwater and Engine Room ... totally afraid of my own Offense Chambers so I asked "How can I best take down those things that shoot at people ?" answer "Xenocide, it's your 4th attack" so I bravely ran at my own OC's and did Xenocide ... I stand there a good 4 seconds realising they weren't shooting at me but at a Marine behind me, and then I went boom at my own OC's .....

    But I love funny people that play it for the 1st time .... "OMG, there is a fat cow in the base putting down weird things" .... Devoured a n00b today, 1st thing he says "Commander, can you put on of those teleporter thingies at my location, so I can get back to base ??"

    I like that the new players are keeping the mod I love alive.

    Ain't nothing more to be said, really. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    What I like about new players... hmm..

    Propably their ability to die! <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo-->

    They curse, shout, yell, generally be a nuisance, and know feck-all about the game.. plus they couldn't shoot an Onos who is stuck in a phoneboot..

    But offcourse there's the ultra-rare cewl newb who actually wants to understand the game without being intrusive (this player knows most of the basics by <b>reading the manual </b> ) and wants to be a valuable member of the team.. *gasp*

    This type of player is very rare but they're what keep me from putting every new player on the same pile and lite it..

    Way to generalize there, buddy. I'm sure most of the new players are horrible CS -type freaks.

    Being an Onos cloaked near an SC with Devour ready. Needless to say, I got a lot of "OMG", "Cheater!", and "NSPlayer has left the game" messages. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
