Unfortunatly I already know the 2 big plot revalations (please let there be more).

So that I don't ruin it for anyone else, I am going to clearly mark it as a spoiler

    *****SPOILER STARTS HERE*****

I know that Sephiroph turns out to be a baddy and that Aeris dies. How and why I don't know. All I know about the plot is that there's some big city, you have to blow up a power plant for reasons probably explained later... blah blah blah.

And that Tifa and Cload used to be "friends".

    *****END OF SPOILER***** <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Despite the fact you know that stuff, there's a decent amount of turns and unexpected stuff for you to know...And knowing Sephiroth is a bad guy isn't really a spoiler, heh.

One of the people that made the game said Aeris should be pronounced 'Aerith' ....yea...how about no?
That's why I just rename them.. Aeris = Anne, Tifa = Tina, all of them renamed. I remember the first time I played it I remaned Barret 'Sting'....lol, it was horrible! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Played it once, and only once, entirely by accident.

I was absolutely bored silly one evening, so I flicked on the TV and turned on my brother's PS, not knowing what game was going to start. Was a bit pleased to see FF7 start, as I've heard good things about it and I loved the earlier FF games.

Unfortunately there wasn't any memory card, so I was only planning on playing until my party died - I figured it'd only be a half hour or so.

Ten hours later, it was <i>finally</i> game over. I was very angry because I was really getting into the game, and now I'd have to start over again from the beginning.

I never played FF7 or any of the others, i only played 10 and i love it, Blitzball was annoying until it turned out to be simple as baking a pie. What i loved about it was i was use to games where everything had a happy ending, so the ending caught me off, plus in most games you never really care about your characters.
In FFX i had to stay up all night because my party was in MT.Gazeget and if i turned of the PS2 they would freeze to death in the game so when i turned the game back on my screen would be emoty except Tidus lying down dead and Yuna would be upset plus but then Tidus would be out of the way and Yuna will be all mine 0.o........10 days camping plays with your ahead abit -_-

    ***SPOILER***

Your "terrorist" group, Avalanche, blows up "mako" reactors...the lifeblood of the planet...Mako is also the source of magic in this story, and materia, which grants you magical abilities is basically frozen Mako, a radioactive substance. Sephiroth in the time-frame you play in, if actually dead, he was a war hero back in the day when cloud was 16-18 years old, hes now 20 something I believe. Anyway, the Sephiroth "clone" discovers a way he can become, a god...So the story plays out that after finding out sephiroth is "back" its Cloud chasing after him in an effort to stop him. He finds out his evil ploy, but its too late. Sephiroth searches out and finds the "Black Materia" It has a spell that was meant to end the world. He summons the spell, which creates a huge meteor that will smash into the planet in 7 days. The people then re-live an attempt to start the space-program that Shin-Ra had started way back when. Shin-Ra is the evil corporation thats sapping mako from the earth for the sake of moola. Anyway, Shin-Ra makes a Mako-Bomb (Pretty much a nuclear weapon, but its not called that) To destroy the meteor...when it strikes it blows a part of it off and it just heals itself. The game plays out where Cloud's soon-to-be-girlfriend is slain by Sephiroth. Afterwords Cloud goes insane for a while.

    *5-minute break*

After that little episode, The planet it-self decides to fight back by releasing these big creatures called "WEAPON" They are meant to defend the earth at all costs. There are 4 in the game, 2 of which you MUST destroy because they are attempting to purge ALL things hostile to the earth. Including humans. After defeating Ultima Weapon, you head after sephiroth more, just to be greeted by another WEAPON. This one is called "Diamond WEAPON" Its on a colision course with Midgar the big-city thingy.
While you are fighting it, Shin-Ra finish construction of a huge cannon powered by Mako energy to blast this huge shield covering Sephiroth who is doing something weird with himself on the north pole. They fire it, it goes thru diamond weapon killing it instantly while it tries to bombard Midgar with artiliery like-strikes.

Ill skip to the "good' part (This entire game gave me chills, but this is the end-of-the-game stuff)
You make your way into this crater where Jenova had hit the earth thousands of years ago. (Jenova was a monster that destroys planets by infecting them/corrupting the civililans)

Finally you meet in a corner at the very bottom, and save the game/gearup/changeparty/optimize/prepare for the worst.
You proceed into a fight with this weird looking torso that has a head, and at its top is Sephiroths top half. Its called "Bizzaro-Sephiroth", and rightly so. For this fight I used all my high-level materia, and my shiny new summon materia "Knights of The Round" sweet spell. After a couple casts of that and an Omni-Slash he is dead, and the game hangs for a minute. Then this weird choir scary music starts playing, it almost sounds a bit biblical. Here you see a torso of sephiroth, his bottom half is a bludge with 4 angel wings off of it, 1 of his arms is normal, another a steel wing. His head has a crown of thorns on it, and he is very angry. He casts a similar summon to meteor and it has a pretty cool casting. At the end of the fight a blackhole appears in the backround and he is torn apart. Afterwords Cloud has this little memory thing, and at the very end...He has to fight Sephiroth, mano a mano. After tearing him apart, he dies, and you make your escape out of the crater. Just to find out that meteor is about to strike the earth and kill everyone. heh. remember back when Aeiris was stabbed? Well, what she was doing was summoning her own spell...All the mako is just spirits of everyone who has ever died, and she summoned them to stop meteor. Just as it is about to hit, the mako collects, and it destroys Midgar, the meteor, and thats all you see is a bright white flash at the end. Kinda upsettting you don't get to see the "what happend to the babes" cycle at the credits. It says "500 years later..." And it has Red XIII and his cubs running around, and it shows the ruins of midgar. Sweeet game.

Apollogies for anything I missed. I honestly dont know why I even typed this. Nostalgia probably <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

I havn't actually gotten into any of the Final Fantasy games yet, although I am looking to possibly jump on the bandwagon and get Chrystal Chronicals when it comes out. It'll be another first for me with a new "bandwagon", because I recently got into Metroid with Fusion, and Zelda with a pre-order of Windwaker and the bonus Ocarina of Time disk.

FF7 had a good story but it was ruined by the craptacular gameplay, namely how easy it was to make yourself invincible. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I'm going with Otto here.

I frigging loved FFT, and while FF7 had a great story, it was easy easy <i>easy</i> to kill the Sephiroth at the end.

WRONG! FF6 is by far the best Final Fantasy Game EVER. The game was huge, had tons of depth, secrets, and mystery even after discovering everything. 2 secret characters, tons of secret items, and amazing music. Its probably the best RPG of all time.

And if you disagree with me, you're stupid. So there.

Tactics was awesome gameplay, crappy story. Looking back, it made NO SENSE whatsoever. Ramza saved the day, but Delta was king and the 'Church' covered everything up? Huh?

FFVII is probably one of, if not the best FF that has been made so far. I think it would be sweet if they remade FFVII with FFX graphics...It'll never happen, but damn that would be nice.

Although I wish we could remove FF Tactics and FF3/6 from existence. They are such sad pitiful disgraces to the final fantasy name. FF2/4 was great, 5 was fairly good, 7 obviously was awesome, 8 was good despite the fact that the graphics licked ****, 9 was fun, and 10 was great. The sphere system of FFX is my favorite of all the different magic/ability systems, mostly because it allows so much customization of characters. There is no longer a designated "big tank guy", "weak healer girl", "evil black mage dude"...generic character types like that, because by the end of the game you build your characters the way you want them. I loved that...I hope the system in FFX-2 is the same, or similiar at least.

I used to love the final fantasy games, and I really think final fantasy 7 had one of the best plots I've experienced in any medium. (A lot of it is the usual triteness, but when I finally found out who Cloud was in that whole jenova movie, I just about crapped my pants. I was mouthing Oh my god out loud for a few minutes, because it was just about the coolest thing ever.)

The problem with the final fantasy games is that they really don't have any gameplay. Most of my time through the games was spent holding down A/X (depending on the system) and waiting for the monsters to dissapear. Its the story graphics and atmosphere that makes them fun, or more accurately, makes it worth it to sit through the drudgery. Imagine what they could come up with if they combined the atmosphere story and graphics of the final fantasy games with real gameplay. You'd have a formula for a truly amazing experience.

That said, anyone who likes RPGs at all needs to go try out Planescape: Torment. That game is the sole reason why I will probably never again play a console rpg. Nothing compares. Nothing.

ranking of Square games, as they stand in my memory:
    Chrono Trigger > FF6 > FF8 > FFT > FF7

I'm sure I rank them this way not because of the quality of the games, but how old I was when they came out...

I was like 14 when CT came out, and I was completely floored... I will always remember it as the most fun I ever had with a video game... but sadly, when I play through it again now, it's just not the same...

FF6 was around the same time, and the game is incredibly epic... the characters are so well developed, the plot is flawless...

I was older when FF8 came out, and I think it's definitely an age 17-20 game, with its love story and personality clashes... it's also nice to see a FF game have a truly happy ending once in a while... I cried my eyes out at the end =P

FF tactics is the most literary FF game I've played. Very gripping. If someone translated that game's world and characters into the form of a novel, I'd love to read it... politics, intrigue, romance...

Finally, FF7 was awesome, the music and story played together perfectly to create an amazing world... I think it lost some points in my mind because Cloud was such an impotent character. I mean, it's new and interesting to have a main character who doesn't care about anything, but how can you sympathize with that? it makes everything that much more dull. In FF6, Locke and Celes and all the characters have such vibrant personalities... In FF7, I just felt bad for everyone who had to deal with Cloud because he was such an apathetic downer. And then Aerith dies and Cloud doesn't even come around and see the error of his ways and start treating Tifa better... and then they hint at the population of the world being eliminated after the credits... yay.

I hear that I'm missing out on a lot by never having played Chrono Cross (or finished Chrono Trigger).
