The computer targetting system recognizes alien life forms and only targets them.
  • homerxhomerx Join Date: 2003-04-01 Member: 15094Members
    It doesn't "target".

    The marine's boots have rubber soles. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> Thats why they arn't effected.

Marines don't bite res towers or turret factorys.

I hope that your question was one of idle nonsence and that you weren't attemping to advocate marines actually being hurt by electrification.

if a marine puts one hand on a elec building and the other hand on the ground then he'll get electrocuted. but tsa trains the marines not to do that. hence marines dont' get electrocuted from their own buildings
  • homerxhomerx Join Date: 2003-04-01 Member: 15094Members
    Maredtext,

For your information, biting something isn't the only way to get electrocuted.

And NO, I wasnt attempting to change anything.

And even if I was, I would have to post it in the S&I forums, not here.

I was simply inquiring if this has a back story.
  • MaredtextMaredtext Join Date: 2003-08-18 Member: 19899Members
I am well aware that biting something is not the only way to get electrocuted. I was mearly replying to your nonsence with some of my own.

Yes, he is correct, since there is no current through a marine's body, as his shoes are rubber. Rubber shoes provide traction, and work will with electrified objects.

Then how can those <b>rubber</b> soles be so effective against skulk bites?
  • homerxhomerx Join Date: 2003-04-01 Member: 15094Members
Inquiring whether something about the gameplay has a back story is nonsense to you?

Get off our boards you troll.

The rubber soles are really really thick......just listen to the clanking sounds they make. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

The boots are a steel-plate sandwich with rubber in the middle. The gloves are similar, but with something along the lines of kevlar. Happy?

    OMG!! GROUNDBREAKING DISCOVERY IN NANOTECHNOLOGY!!!

These "nanomachines" have this doohicky in their Mainframe, which is utilitized to negate all forms of eletrical shock by *insert scientific explaination here*.

    Uh..yea.. o_O
  • MaredtextMaredtext Join Date: 2003-08-18 Member: 19899Members
Ok, well if your inquireing about a backstory thats fine but you came across as someone fishing for support for an idea they have and they don't want to out and say it so they make a post asking peoples opinions about a "curiosity" that has naged at them.

Btw try and keep that anger under control, screaming troll anytime someone disagree's/puts your meaning to the question won't get you far in life.
  • homerxhomerx Join Date: 2003-04-01 Member: 15094Members
    First off, I wasn't screaming.

Scroll back to my previous post.

Do you see any exclamation points?

Next, and again, *IF* I was "fishing", as you put it, for support, I would have posted it in the S&I forums, not on this one.

Ok my bad, I will refrase my statement so as to not cause you undue agitation.

"Instantly responding with the word troll anytime someone disagree's/puts your meaning to the question won't get you far in life."
  • homerxhomerx Join Date: 2003-04-01 Member: 15094Members
    Maredtext,

You are making very little sense.

What does this have to do with anything?

"Instantly responding with the word troll anytime someone disagree's/puts your meaning to the question won't get you far in life."

    You did not disagree.

You replied nonsense to my inquiry.

    Re-read the entire thread.

haha im gonna be a troll and call you a hypocrit !

    HE HE!

anyway, drop it. Even if you are looking for some backstory, cmon seriously sit around thinking about that kinda crap?

how do the skulks stay on the ceiling with them lil spike legz?!

    doug

    From Manual :
Wall Running: equally at ease on the ceiling as the floor, speculation is that the bladed feet of these Kharaa have retractable microscopic spines that shoot out when a spike's tip pierces a surface, and retract when the foot is lifted.

As for electrocution....well nanotechnology is very advanced, isn't it?? Armor is made of nanites and when needed,it modifies it's molecular structure to negate the effects of electricity.

    The wonders of nanotechnology <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

There's something about that in the manual, I think. They're not spikes, they're actually organic things I think.
  • MaredtextMaredtext Join Date: 2003-08-18 Member: 19899Members
Son, I think it is you that needs to re-read the entire thread.

You are right, I didn't disagree with you, I called your meaning into question, hence the "/puts your meaning to the question" part of my post.

If you find my posts to mentaly intensive for you to understand I would suggest that you stick to posting questions like "How does a gorge drop a structure that is 4 times his size" or maybe "Why when a huge onos goes to evolve a trait does he turn into a egg that is 1/5th the onos's size" or maybe another good question that you could ask is "Why do skulks make a flooping sound when they run and jump when they have sharp little claws that should make a clicking sound."

After you have asked any of these questions (I'm sure that you can think up many more than I can) and someone calls you foolish for asking them you can then call them a troll and tell them to "get off our forums and stop hateing the backstory seakers."

As for now all I have to say is good day sir, I have already expended more keystrokes on responding to you that you are worth.

P.S. While your busy "backstory" seaking with your many questions another more intelligent one that you could ask is why in the future when marines have the ability to phase instantly from one point to another are pump shotguns still being used?
  • TestamentTestament Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4037Members
And why don't they have auto-tracking bullets?
  • DougDoug Join Date: 2003-08-02 Member: 18723Members
    sarcasm, the pain.. the pain!

nothing wrong with backstory - gives atmosphere.

making arguments out of silly questions - gives headaches.

and for no reason at all RE-READ !

    Maredtext,

You are trying to change the subject by *flaming* me.

    Read the first page.

Right off the bat you told me that my inquiry was "nonsense".

    PS: Don't flatter yourself.

There is a reason why you can send PMs on this board ya know ?

You can make metals that have almost no free electrons, so no electricity goes trough it.
Its in developement and not cost effective atm.

Ollj is right, there can be tons of explainations. The TSA uniform could be covered in some weather/electricity proof stuff <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Thank you for your input, Ollj. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

But right now, my beef is with Maredtext. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Anyone who would take the time to carefully read the thread would clearly see that he is at fault.

I would really appreciate it if some of the *respected* forum posters would have their say on this.

Slimy alien critters conduct electricity etter than clothed humans with combat boots on, of course.
