In the words of Chris Rock:

"Ever heard of crazy? Can't people be crazy no more? In my days the crazy kids were taken to school in a little a** bus, got out of school earlier than the regular kids, and were only around other crazy kids. Just in case they went crazy, they'd only hurt other crazy kids."

Ahhhh the marvels of the Justice System

"Hey, it's not MY fault I did that. It's somebody ELSE'S because the system is so **** retarded I can blame somebody else and get away with it! Even though I'm a lying sack of crap and I this freaking stupid BEFORE I found something to pass the blame unto! TEE HEE I AM SO SMART AND THE JUDGE WILL LET ME GET AWAY WITH IT"

It's this kind of constant s*** that just keeps snowballing

- Some kid that probably had a screw loose already gets bullied
- Kid goes on school shooting rampage
- Kid blames video games
- Kid's lawyers argue it is the video games fault because they are too violent
- Kid gets off
- Soccer mums charge Washington DC demanding bans on all violent video games, lest their little strumpet do the same

I love it. Don't say the system doesn't work people! The system works! You just gotta manipulate it!

Man, America is so f***ed up (Not meaning to offend anyone, just these kinds of idiots who pass the blame)
These morons just pass the blame and think it's their constitutional right to own a firearm, even though the King of France is never ever going to come barging into their house, and it poses more of a risk to their children than it does to protecting them....

They should just abolish the right to bare arms if you have a family. Seriously. It's how these morons get them in the first place.

when will people learn?

People are stupid. People as stupid as that should be left out in the wild and made to fend for themselves.

and people blaming videogames are stupider then them. If they wanna sue to get it removed, then sue the distributors, not the creators. And people were doing drive-by shootings a loooooooong time before GTA3. Ever hear of Al Capone?

I just hate when people blame outside sources. If it's your fault (ie, the parents), accept responsibility.

Back in the 1930's, people blamed the deperession on themselves. They blamed themselves for putting money in banks that went bankrupt, in investing in stocks that failed and overall making themselves poor. Granted, they didn't trust the banks and stuff anymore, but they didn't sue everyone in sight and go on murderous rampages (...unless you're a gangster, than you can tommy gun all the other gangs down).

Today (not the mocking sarcasm):
"I spilled coffee on myself, give me 5 million dollars" ( I don't care if it was 'to hot', let the employees splash it on me and give me a million dollars anyday)
"I can't parent my kid, it's the companys fault for not making M rated games jump off the shelf, smack me in the face and say 'damn it you ****, it says M because your kid is supposed to be 17 or older! Don't buy me.'; so ban all videogames"
"My child was bullied at school, that's why it's okay for him to shoot everyone and blow stuff up." (I'd like to point out that I, while bullied at school and having access to a gun, didn't go around shooting everyone...but that description is for another time.)
"Sure, I robbed his house, but he shouldn't have had that knife in the drawer where I could take it and impale myself."

And then it goes on...the list of utterly pointless and stupid suings that wont stop...EVER.
Don't EVER make a mistake or you'll get sued for it....EVER, you didn't put a comma in the right spot, now my eyes are strained for reading your poorly punctuated writing, I'm suing!

To finish up, I've owned the following games before their rating would have allowed me to purchase them myself:
Half-Life (ohhh, it says M, but you get the 9 year olds playing...bah) (I was...16ish when I got it)
Resident Evils (I have the overwhelming desire to blow police officers away...just because some zombies were wearing police uniforms! ...retarded)
Parasite Eve (...the only game that I know of that shows partial nudity...and it's some deforming blob....let's all go masturbate to jell-o! )
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (well, at least I think this was before I was 17....anyone that shoots anyone because of a video game should shoot themselves first anyway)
Twisted Metal (yea...I wanna attach machine guns I don't own to a car I can't drive....right (maybe this is only rated T...dunno)
Halo (not sure if this was before I was 17 either...think I was 16) (I wanna go into outerspace and shoot alies, defy numerous laws of physics and travel to the future year the game takes place in...let me get right on that)
Metal of Honor: Frontline (...I can't think of anything clever, but needless to say, once you've played a game, died and respawned, you should know that you shouldn't do anything in the game, since it will lead you to death...ie, charging nazi machine gun bunkers...so don't assault a 'skinhead' base )

Actually, the use of immersive simulation and killing does tend to decensitize people to murder when said person has no strong morale and ethic grounding. That is why the Military uses it, after basic training (which is ment to break down your mind so that they can build you up to what they want you to be, hence destroying any type of morale background you before had), to make it easier for soldiers to pull the trigger. Because, if you hesitate while a **** tango points his AK-47 at your 'noggin, you're a dead (wo)man.

Take, for instance, the fact that nearly 50% more soldiers fired their weapons in combat during Vietnam than in WWII. Granted, the setting of a jungle with no escape and an endless FLOOD of enemies willing to die to get you out of their country would tend to make you more violent, but also Vietnam erra soldiers underwent simulated killing training. *shrug*

Violence, however, is in human nature. Our society, for better or worse, has decided collectively that killing is wrong, however we've been doing it for millenia, and so has every other species on this planet. Survival of the fittest. Kill or be killed. It's not something that can easily be un-programmed from the human psyche.

hasnt gta got an age thingy on it...so you have to be 18 to play it (well thats what mine says anyway...) so then its either their parents fault for getting it for them or the shops fault for selling it to them underage... or you could argue it was societies fault for encouraging people not to take responsibility for their actions (but i think people have said that already)...

I wouldn't be too concerned, as the precendent was already set by the families of the Columbine School shootings that tried to sue ID for making Doom. The judge tossed it, same as will happen here. I'll be surprised if it even goes to trial.

Um, have you ever witnessed a killing? I don't think the army has all their facts straight.

I've been playing games since I was 4 years old. Got into the violent stuff at 10(my parents realised I was responsable, and made sure I didn't play too much), and played for 3 years. Then, when I witnessed a 6 person homicide, it was mind blowing. Much like what Chuck Osborn said in the recent issue of PCGamer, GTA wasn't running through my head. Not half-life, America's Army, Postal 1/2, any of them. Guess what did?

The local news, CNN, CNN.com, all of those things. I could just imagine it being all over the news, and the news showing all these different dead bodies in other situations, but I realised, I was looking at the real thing, RIGHT HERE.

The army doesn't have the stuff to desensitize people. Its for training. Go to one of the new military expos(where they show off different stuff), and go to the advanced training area, and you see the new training stuff they do after basic. Shows the gore and everything, just as much as postal 2. The difference? Its made to get you used to handling guns and the such.

Um....no it won't...no way in hell cars blow up at all. Period. The only way they even could is with GASES, not liquids, like gasoline. The gasoline can coat everything in fire, but it can't go "BOOOM" like in GTA3 or the movies, thats just not possible(unless running on a VERY VERY empty tank, and even then, it'd barely be a explosion thats 2ft cubed.

The Spartans were the BEST.

Nothing says "Get back in line, son" like a compulsory life sentence in the military

But you just have to come to terms with stupid people. There always was and always will be stupid people. And the ones you hear the most about are the ones in positions of power - where it be self-elected or stupid [democratically] elected authority, or just authority given to them by the stupid-loving system, there will always be stupid people in power. Oh, and corrupt, but that's irrelevent

So you just need to guard yourself from stupid people - associate yourself with intelligence and intelligent people, and get security from stupid people [not just physical haha, that's the least of your worries]. If all else fails, come hit me up in thirty years when I'm a multi-billionaire and you can come live on my island with my own country, with a system devised by me and several other smart people [who i haven't found yet].

BTW, GASP is a possibility, and with the constant outrage by Gamers, it is a distinct probability. Somebody will get off their arses and fight back against the Stupids. Whether it be by Media-Manipulation to spread Enlightenment and Education, or legal action, or whatever you can think of to fight back, it is an inevitability... Unless you guys really ARE just back-seat drivers, too scared to take a stand against The Stupids. If something like this happens, and regardless of if you use the name "GASP" [] or not, I'd like to be involved, or simply informed.
