<div class="IPBDescription">2.01e</div> I have been playing 2.01e lately, and I love it... except for bile bomb.
I just got off of a game in ns_nothing where the marines had relocated to power silo. until this incident, i never noticed how messed up bile bomb was. We had 4 gorges up near the roof constantly bile bombing for 3-5 minutes - yet almost nothing died in their base. I was told you need to "see" where bile bomb hits in order for it to do dammage now. OK, so I stared at their IP for another 2 minutes launching countless BB at it, but nothing happened.
Granted, Aliens shouldn't be able to Bile bomb thru walls, but when there is legit Bile Bomb action happening, the dammage should register without you needing to be sitting on the object being bile bombed.
I think the Dev team would agree that Bile Bomb is an arching projectile for a reason - so that you don't have to "see" the target in order to hit it. And if it turns out that the Dev team (which is awesome beyond belief) disagree - well then make it so that hits register when you do "see" the target, as I was.

Yeah. The bile bomb almost has to have a direct impact on your target for it to be the most effective. Once you start landing direct hits buildings die real fast.
after about three minutes the marines started laughing, none of their structures were taking damage, and yes, i saw many direct hits on many structures.
hwoever, when i hopped down i did a lot of damage before dieing. apparently BB is rated on vertical distance, not line of sight. and thats a load of crap.

this was linux server 2.01e, there is a possibility the "spotting" is as buggy as siege spotting and therefore not working!
However, there is a bug. It was brought up in the 2.01e release thread in the public beta forum. So it's not just your aim. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Places like tram tunnel node on Bast, nanogrid on Veil, etc. They've all stopped bilebomb damage. The only surefire way I've found to do damage is to be on the same level and have direct line of sight to the whole building.

a serverside bug in 2.01e maybe?
Now this is something I have to disagree with COMPLETELY. This would give gorges an offensive boost that they JUST do not need that right now. With one or two upgrades they can destroy a vanilla marine. What you are suggesting would allow gorges to harass HA trains; a utility that does not need to be added.

Many vents you encounter have lips on them, Making them boxy and stuff.
This lip confuses the 'OMG! Don't shoot through walls!' code, and it now believes that you are trying to shoot through a wall.
Result: No damage.
Well, that's my take on it.
A definite bug issue that needs to be addressed. It's happend on almost every other map.
And I support the idea of having BB destroy armor. True, an upgraded gorgie can take out a vanilla marine, so adding armor reducing BB to their inventory will give them an advantage how?
And the majority of kills against vanilla 'rines from gorges that I have seen have come from spit sniping.
And once you've got a HA train, nothing stops it short of an onos and lots and lots of lerks and leaping skulks. And even then...
A BB gorge, one that could COUNTER the HA would be extremely useful. And the gorge isn't a tank when it goes up against a HA. The gorge is a builder and supporting unit, and it would continue to be a supporting unit if armour reduction was added to the BB effect. You'd still have to rely on fast skulks and fades/onii to do the killin', but a supporting gorge would be a viable counter to the HA train.

the BB is the only thing a gorge can do to help destroy farms and other bases. Spit doesn't do much DMG.
BB not working means that the gorge has to be a fade or Onos to destroy anything, this isn't right!
Gorges should be able to BB you from the top ledge in Power Silo, vents, ledges. It will teach the commanders NOT to place bases in stupid spots.
Just because your base was destroyed 3 times when you put one in Nano grid doesn't mean that gorge is over powered or unfair, it means you don't know how to play the map!
BB is a important tool!
It needs to be fixed.
2.01e is near perfect but this is 1 of the things that subtracts from the super balance of 2.01e
BTW, a 10 res siege?? yeah right a siege with a 20 foot range Much smaller blast and Much less damage that CANT shoot through walls and CANT hurt mariens. Gee if a regular siege worked like that it wouldent be WORTH 10 res.
The way gorges are now with their abilities, they should cost about 50 resources to evolve into. Being able to web HAs into obliteration is highly underrated. If you do it right, you can do better than an onos can stomping. Not to mention you have long distance damage which onos don't have. Gorge should definitely be more than 10 res.
Nerf or up the cost. There's your solution.

Wrong, I know how to play maps, but, there is no possible counter to a gorge in powersilo that is bilebombing my outpost, and who ever said gorges were supposted to be used as weapons? A gorge with bile bomb is like a siege turret.

Gorges are easy to kill, slow moving and have a hard time dealing with players without web.
try using those funny things people call marines instead on relying on static defences all the time ~sigh~
