I don't mind if you bash a game solely on its price as long as you research/try out the game, but you have not stated if you have even given the game itself a chance. Even at $40, it is a very good deal for how solid the expansion is, and how much better the world editor is.
WC3:FT was a good buy. I haven't really touched the single-player too much, having a semi-dislike of the Night Elves but it is a good single player game and good multiplayer.
Little by little, pitch by pitch, I'm actually considering buying CNCG, Steve.
But you have to get Frozen Throne first. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
WC3:TFT is just what Blizzard wanted it to be; a great expansion. If you never liked WC3 to begin with, you would never like an expansion that ...expands... the Warcraft expierience.
So we hall hate China because their unbalanced--we all hate Generals online because we get disconnects--and we all hate Generals because their EA.
Thats like:
Hating Challenges (Challenges develope a person physically and mentally--their is no excuse. Only whiners quit)
Hating something OUR computer or Internet Service Provider does to us (This is just stupid--I never once got a disconnect on my 56k Modem running AOL, or my new Cable Modem which runs off of broadband. Find a reliable service provider--not an argument that means jack **** because its your own damn computer softwares fault or your own tied up phone lines and budget)
Hating something because it comes from a company we dislike, because it never poops out something that appeals to the senses of a 5% minority; is just plain wasted energy. Tired of a certain game? Well make your own! Suggest things--never give up and you will have what you dream for!
Oh and the graphics? (EA did the 3d, Westwood did the rest)
===
I love challenges--I like crushing China while I'am the GLA. I love doing this one on one, or one against five, or one against eight! I've done this before--its not impossible if your good with tactics and micromanagement.
I love being a challenge--I love to see my opponents try to Silence my uber Chinese Nationalism. I like watching two of my rocket filled bunkers cut down an enemy tank rush.
I love turning fields into fortresses-I like barricading the enemy in his own base. I like annexing towns for my own use. I love entrenching in hillsides. I like pummeling the enemy with a China Infantry Rush and x4 inferno cannons.
I like using Flashbang Upgraded Rangers and a plathora of Paladin Tanks with the Armor Upgrade and Bombardment selected at the Strategy center. Then steamroll an enemy base and win a match.
I like using Rocket Buggies or USA Missle Defenders to stop a x10 Overlord Rush and silence their Nationalism.
This game has more possibilites then most people think--download maps from the community, RVMECH's AI is just plain awesome. Its scary at times...
But don't sit around helpless because victorys not handed to you in the sense you'd appreciate it from. Cloaked bases bother you people?! How?! These are fun to fight against--but I guess some people hate the chances of "loosing" because they "LACK THE EYES TO SEE, LACK THE EARS TO HEAR, AND LACK A BRAIN TO THINK!" You can counter a force shield--destroy a generator. You can counter cloaking-LOOK D@MNIT!
GENERALS R0X0RZ!
THE ONLY BALANCE IN THIS GAME IS YOU!
G E T U S E D T O I T!
WAR IS NOT WRITTEN ON THE SHOULDERS OF "BUDDY BUDDY, KEEP IT EVEN" GAMEPLAY. WAR BY MAN WAS NEVER MEANT TO GIVE ANOTHER MAN A CHANCE TO FIGHT BACK; WAR WAS MEANT TO GIVE YOUR ENEMIES A BLOODY NOSE AND A SENSE OF LOSS. IF YOU DON'T FIGHT HARD AND DIRTY, AND STEP OUT OF YOUR SHELL OF TACTICAL LACKING; THEN YOU LOOSE!
My opinion anyway. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Its not the challenge (or lack there of for that matter) that bothers me about Generals. its the fact that EA did nothing to expand on the feel of the game. In fact if you compare it to C&C Red Alert you'll realize that they haven’t improved on anything except graphics. You can still rush, and you can still build only 1 type of powerful unit to get a sweeping victory on any map. The only time the computer actually poses a "challenge" is when they have 300% more units than you at the start of the map. And they get a scud storm 5 min into the round. That only posed a challenge the first time, then you realize that you can just spread your buildings way out and not worry about the unfair advantage of the computer. The rest of the game brought absolutely nothing new to the table, no new innovations for buildings, no new unit strategies, just build up the most powerful unit you can get and sweep. Really lame and boring. Compare C&C G to Homeworld 2 and you’ll quickly realize that C&C G shouldn’t even be called an RTS.
edit:
you'd have to be a real half-wit to have trouble beating C&C G, the only good thing they managed to do was make certain rocket units outrange your static defense, so you couldnt just plop 10 bunkers down and be sitting pretty, but having 10 bunkers/guns/whatever and a small group of other units takes care of the problem all together.

I know. My post should've been more mature and less "flamey". (You did'nt address that, I did. I should've been more constructive.)
You are right about some things; but hold, some players invent new strategies with old underused units to defeat their enemies. Thats the greatest fun--destroying the biggest thing with the smallest--using your worst to destroy their best.
Thats the kind of strategies I employ and use. And because C&C Generals is such a run and gun game, I use strategies to defeat those kinds of purposes and other kinds of tactics that are overused or "so basic". I make the game challenging, the new AI implemenets from RVMECH I will gaurentee you, kick your butt more then a few times over.
Its a fun game to play and requires innovation and creativity to defeat the hardest or most boring aspects of such.
