Kill Bill
<div class="IPBDescription">Is Upon us.....</div> Anyone else excited about this movie?
I've been waiting so long for another QT movie and this one surely seems incredible. Seen so many commercials the past couple of days about the movie and it just keeps building me up. You got 4 sexy ladies taking kick-**** roles. (Uma Thurman, Vivica A. Fox, Darryl Hannah, and Lucy Liu) Just something about women and samurai swords completely draws me in. And also you have Michael Madsen and David Carridane pulling the rear! I've read the script to the movie and it's amazing to say the least. The action scenes are crazyness from how they're written.
The only thing that I completely hate is that the movie execs decided to make it into two-parts instead of leaving it one part. I highly doubt QT wanted his movie split.... but what can ya do. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> Luckily I pay 4.50 for a matinee viewing so I'd be willing to pay the 9.00 to see the whole thing, but for others I know its sometimes way more than 9.00. :/ Just so glad this movie is finally here.

Sure it's different but, not terrible. The only thing about the plot that I don't like is that they decided to put "The Bride" in a coma for five years instead of something shorter. It makes sense though because that's enough time for the others to forget about her so she could seek revenge without them knowing she was still alive.
The Bride is a female assasin so why wouldn't she seek revenge on those that tried to kill her when she specializes in killing people and they took her husband and child away and she has nothing else to live for except revenge.

Someone knows nothing about screenplays. The plot on paper means nothing, the sole purpose of screenplays is to lay out what the movie is going to look like in scenes, no body starts creating a movie by saying ok first this happens, then this happens, then this and so on. They do it scene by scene and the work goes into making the scenes look good, not the plotline, that's why they are movies, and not novels.
For instance you can have an amazing idea for a movie and have a whole plot thoroughly thought out, but if you can't come up with one good scene that can actually sell the movie no one will give your screenplay a second thought.
Why, you ask? It's simple, really. Movies like <i>The Matrix</i> raised movies in general to a new level by creating jaw-dropping, spectacular combat sequences. I don't mean action sequences - I mean hand-to-hand combat. Of course, every studio sees the dollar signs in engrossing combat, so it doesn't surprise me to see Uma Thurman wielding a katana in this movie.
What does surprise me, though, is that Tarantino apparently thinks he can get away with doing combat the pre-Matrix way. Matrix actors trained for <b>8 months</b> with a kung fu master before the first movie, and I'm sure they trained more before the sequels. Uma Thurman simply does not look convincing holding a katana; from the scenes in the trailers I've seen, she doesn't look like she knows how to use it. The fact that Tarantino didn't seem to think it necessary to train his actors to fight realistically is incredibly disappointing to me. Combine that with the fact that I've never been a big fan of Uma Thurman (take her or leave her), and there's really just no pull to see this for me.

Only difference is Tarantino never uses CGI in his movies, and this is going to be a satire (just like all his movies for those who still haven't caught on) of the kung-fu like movies. Aside from being cool as hell his movies are all really funny, which really puts them in a different category than the Matrix and such.
As far as Uma Thurman goes the only role I've ever liked her in was Pulp Fiction, so Tarantino knows how to make her work.
And welcome back coil <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> you should rent Reservor Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, if you like any of those movies you'lllike this one.

Good point coil, yeah watching the trailers I kept thinking "Man, Uma just doesn't look like she knows one end of a katana from the other". That and I am also not an Uma fan. I'll probably see it (hey, I saw Tomb Raider 2 today <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ) but from the outset it's not looking fantastic.
In my eyes, it has all the ingredients for a sucess.
QT + great script + actors/actresses QT knows how to squeeze the best out of = the stuff of legends.
It's going to rock.
I thought this, I caught the trailer and thought, "what the hell?" It was the first I've ever saw anything from the film, I was expecting some gory Pulp Fiction style film, but it looked forgetable.
All the people went through about 3-6 months of training for the movie, I think with the same teacher who taught Keanu & Laurence for Matrix.
Another point, how the hell would you know how to wield a katana? Do you have one in your basement? Do you regularly go out and fight someone with it? I have a wooden Katana (slightly lighter due to no weights in it) and from the way Uma is holding it, it looks exactly how I'd do it. Don't forget everyone has their own style of fighting.
And as for seeing the movie...It comes out the last friday of October break, and it's a movie both me & my girlfriend (the old one, long story) want to see badly...so we're gonna fork over the 20$ and see it @ Loews Cineplex or a South Hampton theater.
I for one think the trailers look just fine, maybe people are just hating?
Or they just be QT Hatin'.
QT movies are...weird but so gloriously entertaining.
To quote why Tarentino didn't use CG "That **** looks good, but it dosen't look real." I heard they plan to use minature models for many of the large scale FX shots, in fact in the 1st trailer the intro with the plane flying over the city looks to be minature modeled.
I gotta go see it of course, it just looks very cool. Comparing it to the Matrix isnt fair though, since aside from some wire stunt work its different in every way shape and form. Which is a good thing <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Oh and it has schoolgirl assassins, +5 coolness.
"I'm a mushroom cloud laying motherf***er, motherf***er."
Agreed! I read somewhere (PSM i think) that teh movie is going to have so many action scenes they are going to have to make a sequal to use them all. Although this doesn't sound very lickley it would still rock.
Kill Bill is another of his sleepers. You will go into it thinking. "Kill Bill" What the F kinda name is that? Uma with a katana... Come on... but look at his past work. Hes not going to let you down that much.
P.S. I did hear that Uma hit her self in the head with the katana, the first day she used it... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Awesome.
What's it mean by Tarantino's 4th film? I checked IMDB and he's worked on alot more. Does it means he's the only one that Wrote and Directed it?
Unlike True Romance and Natural Born Killers which he just wrote.
Great to see all the comments btw. This movie is gonna have a lot of blood and gore in it even though they don't show it in the trailer. Just look at Reservoir Dogs and I bet you didn't expect to see what you saw. It was even rumored to get an NC-17 rating because of all the blood and gore which makes me wonder if thats the true reason they split the film to just lessen the violence. (Other than the money reason which is just obvious) Until October 10th. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Forgot something. Coil I doubt that Tarantino is trying to copy the Matrix(action wise) in anyway. If you've seen his films they are ALL unique. I'm a fan of the Matrix but, it didn't invent the hand-to-hand combat sequences(you saw in that movie), it just happens to be a very popular movie that the masses saw and to alot that was their first exposure to that type of fighting. So they were blown away by it and by the special FX and the story. A lot of kung-fu movies have that style of fighting but they are poorly budgeted and bad stories. Which leads to poor exposure. Matrix just so happened to have a very convincing story and a HUGE budget which could buy all the FX they wanted.(hence bullet time) Its just bad to compare movies unless they ARE trying to be like the first.
Of course you wouldn't want to see this movie since in your mind you've already seen it judging it the way you did. I respect your opinion but just be open-minded instead of negative from the get-go.

He is in it.... for anyone who hasnt seen this kick-**** movie yet, look at the masacre in the chapel at the organ player.. apparently that's sammy j himself..
Who goes to a Quentin Tarantino movie expecting a family comedy? Really?
Uma is in the movie....that's why I saw it.
<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>and because Q.T. movies rule.</span>
NOT cartoon. Anime. Kinda like comparing Disney and Ninja Scroll <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
When will parents learn. Couldn't they see the RATING? It was R 18+ over here in Australia. You do NOT take your kids to see that (in fact I'm almost certain you can't, you have to be 18+ to get in). And yeah, it's a Tarantino movie. 'Nuff said right there.
yeah. like they said. it's tarantino. what kind of idiot parent... fah. that's like columbine.
