But it has endless possibilities.
You could start off with just marines vs marines with the way the game is now but different coloured marines. if it proves popular u can add a different between the green and blue team so to speak, with lmg looking different and each team having its own strong points and weak.
Howveer right now i myself and im quite certain a hell of a lot of other people would love a marine vs marine game with the way it is now... god i hate trying to explain stuff cause i aint best at it.

Having done a completely new mode ( combat), to do another one so soon seems unlikely.
Oh and unless they simply reskin all the marine weapons, they wont be able to add anything for them unless they can safely break the weapon limit on HL
for example...

I have no idea where you heard that, but you are almost certainly wrong unless One of the devs personally told you that they are considering this.

I wonder what happens when you kill an Onos that's eaten an Onos, whos eaten an Onos, whos eaten an Onos, whos eaten another Onos.
Or, knifing the other marine team's rts.
Or, using a gl to clear out a turret farm.
Or, a pack of skulks owning an onos.

They could instead do a protoss side but, that would break the HL weapon limit. Maybe in HL2.

Marines vs Marines sounds like fun but think:
Sieging each other will get very tiresome and boring.
And come the HA trains, the game would go on forever.
On the other hand, Aliens vs Aliens sounds like fun <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Of course I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to disable sieges in the end if you had to. Perhaps turrets in general, because that just seems rather dumb.
Is that how it works? I never realized this. I figured it actually lobbed explosives, but that wouldn't explain seiging one room from another.
According to the manual (the one written when sieges determined targets on their own), siege turrets create a gravitational field to damage anything they have identified as hostile. They can't target aliens because they change shape too often, but the alien structures have been entered into the database as hostile targets. The only thing to decide is if the siege could tell one team's structure from the other.
I still think cloaked battles would be lame. Everyone would be like "Where are you?" "I'm in your hive" "what" "OUR HIVE IS UNDER ATTACK" *everyone runs to hive* "...where is he?" "OUR OTHER HIVE IS UNDER ATTACK" "OMG GUYS I'M KILLING THEIR HIVE AND CLOAKING LOL"
......
What I'd like to see is a room full of adrenaline fades with regen and gorges.. To kill one you'd have to web it and then to protect your gorges you'd have to quickly blink and knock the other fade away.
Or celerity skulk battles...
