Stalker: Oblivion Lost
<div class="IPBDescription">HL2 and Doom3 suck compared to this</div> Ok so I've been following this game on and off through various magazines for a while now. While checking out IGN.com earlier (Yes, I do subject myself to this kind of McGirdle torture) they posted an article on Stalker: Oblivion Lost. <a href='http://pc.ign.com/articles/456/456210p1.html' target='_blank'>Check it out here</a>
Anyways, after reading all these articles in various magazines and online I have placed Stalker: Oblivion Lost 2nd on my 'Most looking forward to playing' list
1st is Worms 3D (Because it's coming out in like 3 days)
3rd is HL2
4th is Doom3
Why am I looking forward to Stalker?
- Totally free-play world. 30km squared map with about 18 'main levels'... dunno how much other stuff is available
- About a 100 NPC's all trying to do their own thing. Hell, one of them could even finish the game before you do. Make allies, enemies...
- Co-op play. Co-op play. Co-op play.
- Impressive game and physics engine that <b>easily rivals </b>some of the stuff seen in HL2 and Doom3. Hell it puts some of the stuff out there to shame. PRETTY TEXTURES MAKE INF HAPPY! (Look at the screenshots on IGN)
- FPS with an RPG flair. Hunger and Radiation meters. Gotta eat to live, gotta avoid radiation to live.
Basically the story goes like this.
Chernobyl. It explodes. Again. Now your job is to go inside and steal artifacts and such and you're working against other Stalkers for all the booty at hand.
Only problem is... the worlds been warped. Weird paranormal apperitions all over the place. A large military presence. Mutants. Deserted cities.
Not like your job was ever gonna be easy....
So as IGN have said, this looks like it's gonna be a sleeper hit. Ya know, kinda like HL1 was.... So grab your pillaging hats, it's booty time.
I simply cannot wait to get playing this, with the premise of co-op play (Good co-op games a few and far between) this really really looks to be a superb game.
Go. Read reviews. Look at screenshots. Watch movies.

More gameplay infoooos ! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
either way, sounds like fun <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Co-op is the one that stands out the most. Like 12 people playing together at once.....
Any word on a release date? (re-reads link)
They are vaguishly aiming at a late 2003, early 2004 release... use your imagination really...
Wanna play some COOP? lol <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->
Like Doom3 but better. cant wait.

Like Doom3 without the need for a $20,000 rig to play it.....
How SEXY does this look. It's like bloody Doom3!
Textures textures everywhere.
In my opinion HL2 will edge over Stalker <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Oxymoron ;p
I have to admit though, that Stalker looks like s3x with a large gun. I may have to buy that <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'm kinda tempted to get Stalker when it comes out but.... I dunno... Just can't get excited about it for some reason =/
And it doesn't step to HL2.
Does Max Payne 2 use the same physics engine as Half-Life 2? Geez, you can practically throw someone's body out of the window with just a shotgun...
Don't get too excited about Worms 3D. I was hugely looking forward to it too, but if the demo is anything to go off it's going to be <i>terrible</i>.

HL2 and MP2 use the same physics engine, but the problem with MP2 wasn't the engine. It was that the bodies weren't given enough mass and bullets were given WAY too much mass.
None the less, it requires a MONSTER of a machine to run.
Also, what does excite me about the game is for one, ITS NOT A SEQUEL.
Most of these games people are so excited about are simply sequels, which do kick ****, but orginals are really nice to have every now and then, correct?
That alone I think is one of the reasons the game is so appealing

The demo got leaked, then Team 17 rushed out another demo to compensate. Both had major problems.
The OFFICIAL demo isn't even out yet, but Worms 3D is like days away anyway... Team 17 have never done a bad Worms game <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Well... it's a sleeper hit compared to HL2 and Doom3 because 90% of the community isn't dry humping over every little tid bit that gets handed to them.... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
the proper term would most likely be air humping, or just pelvic thrusting? lol
oh yeah, stalker rox my f***ing shiatz.
edit: all of those shiatz except halo 2.
