1. I purposely made it full bright so you could see.
2. The textures ARE MOSTLY likely not to be the end ones.
3. I am posting them as they are now because i will post updates of my Marine start - just because I'd like to remember how it looked before I put all most-all detail into the map

When you say purposely made it fullbright, do you mean for the purpose of screenshots, or you're just not putting lights into your map.

maybe u could also try putting some pipes or somethingin, just to add a little more charecter.

I did say I am posting pictures from the bear bones (start) of the map then i post more later - but thanks for the input what i can do to the walls
Added a pipe (texture will be this, most probably) not sure about the bit on the wall/ceiling

You need to break a lot of this up, add detail, make everything match. If you're working predominantly in grey, then add flashes of colour in different places, but try and keep a little consistancy with the colours you choose. Try also adding trims to the floor, break the ceiling up with girders or windows, add some computers to the wall and try and kill as many 90 degree angles as possible. Also, the ceiling is all one height, try adding some variation in there.
EDIT : Also on the stairs, where the light texture is, angled slightly - but i aint posting a picture of that, going to wait till i have added more stuff

Zyndrome - I know its needs a lot of work - thats the point of this thread - i was going to put pictures after i update it.

Yup, I agree.
You don't have any detail at all, get some.
Select your textures carefully, these look ugly.
Fix the architecture, that stair and its rails look very ugly, I've never seen anything like it before.
That pipe really looks out of place, it's ugly.
I'd remove it if I were you. If you do want to keep it, camouflage it with other blingbling detail in the room.
Never use your floor texture as ceiling texture.
Put in some light (I know you're doing the <i>light entities</i> the last, but start with some lightspots and such).
It's tiny.

It must take some gut to dare posting in this forum. Go on with the good work, Pony.
These pictures don't really need any comments because they are so pre-alpha-beta-gamma that you won't even see it's the same map when it's finished.
It's like when you first draw a couple of circles before you actually draw a cartoon character.

Feel free about critsising (spelling) the placement of the vent, yes it is on the floor - but i thought this would help marines in securing the vent (i.e. mines) just i dont know how to use weldables - later stages i may even change it into a weldable

What did you expect if you posted a room wich has 2 textures and a REAL big lack of detail.
I know it's not finished, but this is the same as showing screenshots made in Hammer.
Only show finished stuff and ask people what they think and what needs improvement.
