thats one of the HA death animations, combined with the knockback an onos gives you when you get hit.

Basically, whenever you tap jump, you flap in the direction you're holding ( you currently can't go backwards though, you have to turn in that direction <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> ).

However, whenever you're in the air, holding down jump would make you glide. The speed is depended on your speed before gliding, so if you tapped twice you'd glide pretty fast slowing down gradualy ( you can glide for a while), and if you were going really fast, you'd glide fast.

The energy also runs out quickly ( even with adren + celerity), so you need to glide a lot in order to keep it.

As for that +9 thing, I believe that's just a little glitch. I'm pretty sure norn was viewing a demo of a person playing ( Hellbilly), and the demo screwed up a bit.

I think he meant the lerk flying animation. It only spreads it's wings instead of using the flap animation currently. Also, lerks that walk off an edge and then start flapping won't play either animation, they will kinda walk in mid-air.

In 3.0 beta the lerk animation has been completly fixed, the wings flap correctly now. It's so smooth and sensual <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It's like flying plane, duder.

Point where you want to go, get some speed, and glide that way. It's VERY intuitive once you get over the fact you have to DONT have to flap fifty billion times to go anywhere. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Pointing up slows you down, diving speeds you up (Though not as much as it probably should.)

I'd love to see stunt contests in an open air map designed for lerks.. with rings and platforms and stuff. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> It'd be so awesome..

    you didn't answer my question:

If you start gliding in a certain direction, can you steer while you glide and change directions? could i leap off the top of the refinery hive room in ns_bast and spiral downward, in a glide, to the ground?
  • Umbraed_MonkeyUmbraed_Monkey Join Date: 2002-11-25 Member: 9922Members
Well, seeing that he said that you can speed up and down by pointing up and down, I guess it means you can change direction while gliding. As well, the changlog stated that banking is in...so.. no idiot mode.
  • MrMojoMrMojo Join Date: 2002-11-25 Member: 9882Members, Constellation
Yes, you can, although you would need to flap to steer in a spiral.

Gliding, after picking up speed, moves you in a direction. Pointing to another direction while gliding will make you go there, but, say, turning all the way around wouldn't make you go back, as you would just stop. So, for example, to round the corner, you flap before it, glide to it, turn direction, and flap again to keep going. It's like driving a car, when you're not holding the gas pedal, you don't expect it to drive if you turn the car to the left.

    Yep.

And the slower you turn, the more speed you keep.
