Aliens Win Most Of The Time

Hey, I'm a new NS player, I have played over 50 games and I like the game.
It seems like the Aliens win like 80 percent of the time, they take all the resources fast, and when the Marines try to get resources the Aliens get there and kill it very fast so after 5 minutes you see Resource 1v7.
I tried playing Aliens and it seem to be a lot easier to defend your resource tower, you go Gorge, you build the resource tower, then you build all the Offensive Chambers around it with at least 3 healing defensive chambers and that's it, very hard to kill, you do the same in all resource places and then you go Onos and kill the Marines when they have no minerals left.
I see the game give more power to the Marines but Marines can't do anything without resources so after you took over and secured all the resouces places you just attack the Marines when their handicapped.
Kinda lame.

Marines also seem to need fewer resource towers to win.
Right now onos and fade hitboxes are quite bugged(you can't aim anywhere on an onos and hit and the fades head is not hitable). On an onos you have to aim for roughly the pivoting point(where it spins around), this is fixed in the next version(NS 3.0 for steam).
Marines are much less newbie friendly than the aliens so as a result, on servers with lots of new players the aliens win most of the time.
Small teams(IE something like 3 aliens vs 3 marines) favor the aliens, large teams(something like 12 vs 12) favor the marines.
Nerf nerf nerf.
Dude, you are obviously playing on a crappy server full of non-cooperative morons.
The servers I play on are full of fairly competent people. We always get a group of nublets most days, but for the most part it's regulars. Marines win, aliens win, it all depends on which team is better and works together more.
Aliens are postively UNDERpowered on clan matches IMHO. As it has been said, experience is everything. A real vet on either team can co-ordinate the group's efforts to make a huge difference, (esp if he is comm.)
I'd recommend playing on a public clan-run server, and joining the rine team there. If there are a load of clan members playing your chances of winning will certainly increase. (Well, Duh.)
The game is very well balanced, but if you still dont like it, wait for NS 3 and NS:C. That's gonna blow your mind.
HTH
Dont mind the nub walking through mumbling BS.
Rines also win more oftenly in larger battles because the amount of players on the rine team doesnt affact their resources.

When both teams are working together, it comes down to the individual skill of the players on that team. You may have great teamwork, but if your grunts can't hit the broad side of a bus, you are going to lose.
But then, our server is hardly your average pub.

I'd have to disagree there. It doesn't make a difference if you have 1 post or 10000 posts, you can still be a poor player.
I've played TFC since it came out but have never once posted on any TFC forum or newsgroup because there is far too much ego masturbation and abusive comments for me to even become interested in posting. Doesn't make my experience any less important because I've not joined in on that environment. (In fact, this is the first Half Life mod forum that I've ever posted to over the years)
Yes, this NS community is different, and you can gain a hell of a lot of useful information by reading the posts rather than making any as so many people will actually lend you a hand, write up even the basic of FAQ's and guide those who need the help. However, you can get *all* of this without making a single post.

Experience is the major factor when you have a clan, and you practice, practice, practice, then you *are* going to be better as you will get to know what someone will do in a lot of situations. However, all that experience is worth zip when you have a clan member who decides to do his own thing. Experience isn't everything though as, on a public server, it can really come together when a group of strangers all work as one.
Funnily enough, from what I've seen, the two major reasons why new folk don't work with the rest of the team are:

They don't understand the importance of teamwork within NS (either they've come from another mod/game which relies more on individual scores than teamwork or they are just new to this sort of gaming)

Experienced players abuse the new player just because he/she is new and isn't conforming to the experienced players rules (to be honest, even the term n00b is kind of insulting). When you get this, it can spoil the whole game (and yes, it is a game... though you wouldn't think it with some of the comments you see on the servers *sigh*).

I observed a few matches first, then got a bot and played against that. This made me a better player from the start but other folk do jump in at the deep end and try their best - and that's the important bit... they try their best! If I was flamed for something I did, I would see how the team worked and adjust to that. If the flamer was being an idiot, I'd ignore it and make sure I was working with the team (but, then again, I've got a thicker skin than most - 10 years on Usenet has done that *grin*).

I'm looking forward to playing it!
Oh and depending on the size of the server for me. In pubs it tends to be that if the game is a smaller one, then the aliens will win. IF the game is a large one, then the res system breaks down and aliens get Res really slowly and the marines tend to cut them to ribbons. But that is just from personal experience. It may vary where you guys play.
