Halo did it right. You hit a key, and after half a second your hand would pop out holding a grenade, and throw it. You weren't able to shoot while you were pulling out/throwing the grenade.
TFC did it wrong. You hit a key, and there would be no waiting period, and you could still fire while throwing the grenade.
Half-Life did it wrong. You had to switch weapons then switch back, stopping people from using grenades purely because they were difficult to select, and caused people to make one key grenade scripts.
So Flayra, if you're reading this, using a weapon slot just causes people to use scripts, so make one for 'em, and make us all haaaaaaaappy! =D <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> As far as i know, weapons in NS are 1 weapon per 1 slot. So it doesnt make much of a difference if you need to press eg. 5 to hold nades. "hud_fastswitch 1" is your friend.
And oh, the way the game works doesnt make people use scripts. The lazyness makes them use scripts.
"oh screw that, no way im gonna learn to use it effeciently, ill use my scripts!!"

too much sugar for you i'm afraid, 3 pounds of pressure can easily be hanldled by any one of an average persons teeth. not only that but there is almost no way a grenade pin could be pulled touching only one tooth, it would always recieve pressure from at least two teeth and most likely up to five teeth would actually be appling pressure to it. There are instances of people holing thier entire body weight suspended by their teeth (several world records are held), athough this is a far cry from average, it isn't as big a gap as you imply. If it actually is impossible to pull a grenade pin using ones teeth I would supect that either the pounds of pressure required is more around the 40-50 range, or there is some structual component of the grenade that makes it too akward a a task to achive, and in the case of the latter, it would be intirely dependant on the design of the grenade. Thus to say that to pull the pin of any given grenade using ones teeth is impossible, is false.
The more obvious problem with having NS marines pulling the grenade with thier teeth however is simply that HA's do not have thier teeth exposed, and therefore, and entire segment of the marine core would look really funny in the game whenever they went to prime a grenade. Plus, I REALLY dont want to see another TFC grenade hackjob in NS, it was really pitiful in that game to see grenades float comfortably out of peoples crotches and fly towards you.
WEll, Its not *impossible* to pull a pin out with your teeth, Its just damn hard. and painful. The retaining clip, which is part of the pin, Is bent usually at a 90 degree angle, and the Pin Will only come out After the retaining clip is bent straight from the force of you pulling it. It takes a good pull to get one of those pins out, and for good reason. Either way its much easier to pull out the pin with your hands, and It would also save you some dental work. Because it WILL loosen your teeth. heh, good thing the Military has a pretty good dental plan.
that makes sence brig, but it is still somewhat prosumtous that frontiersman grenades will have any where near the same design as the nades that any modern day army uses. Never the less, like I said before, even for frontiersman grenades, a rine in HA would still look pretty funny pulling a grenade pin with his teeth.
You see theres a hook (on the armor not the cloth) next to the grenade pouch that you use to pull off the pin. Then, it is still not live till you release the spoon (thats what you call the flat thing you hold with your palm).
Now, that solves how everyone can use grenades with one hand.

maybe frontiersman grenades could be squeeze instead of pin. thatd solve the whole one hand thing completely, since theres no pin to pull. like a button on the nade is pressed to start the timer.
EDIT: plus, HA and regular rines could do this easy. and I think that regular modern hand nades in NS wouldnt work out, anyway.....just wouldnt feel right with everything so futureistic.
