It was Otacon and snake. And your all kinda missing the point. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the need for digital censorship. Do we want the lies, slander, random idiocy floating around? Will it hurt the human race? Or do we need uncensored information?

Someone posted about this a while ago, called it "suspension of disbelief". You see the hero of a movie jump off a 50 foot cliff and live because he "lands correctly". Your mind can just about handle that it could be possible to do that. Then you see him get shot in the head five times and live. This you can't believe, as there's no way anyone can survive that.
Same with Vamp, you see him drink blood, fair enough, maybe he's just a freak. You see him run on water, levitate, and deflect bullets with a knife. Riiiiight....
The same goes for Liquid's arm, there is no way I can see that you could take over someone's body through their arm. There have been no recorded cases of people with pig heart transplants being possesed by the pig.
Psycho mantis was believeable because..... I don't know. Somehow psychic powers and cyborg ninja's just seem believeable, wheras a bisexual vampire doesn't. (you find out Vamp is in fact bi in a conversation with Snake/Pliskin)
You are led to believe that the big shell was a "real" simulation.
However, how can you, as the game player, prove it?
There was already at least 2 AIs in the form of the Colonel and Rose, so whats to stop everyone else being one? Whats stopping the entire thing being played out by Raiden's nanos?
When you die, why does it come up a detailed computer simulation error screen?
colnel: doesnt exist, hes an ai program rose: see above olga: her kid is beng held by partiots, if raiden dies, kid dies. she is also the ninja snake/pliskin: wants to save world/destroy arsenal gear/look damn cool doing it. helps raiden otocon: helpin snake
the actual truth about the real story unveiled: the whole thing, gw the president arsenal gear etc. was actually a test for a different ai system to see if it could cause things that would make people do what it wanted them to do, somewhat willingly. it, unfortunately, was a success as it caused raiden (an inexperienced VR numvaek) to go through the game with a whole lot of references to shadow moses (mgs1) ie: harrier == hind, vamp == psycho mantis, the missle thingy, solidus == liquid, fortune == raven etc.
shadow moses was chosen as the 'level' because it was (also) complicated as hell.
note that: solidus, dead cell, president, emma, olga and raiden were pawns in the 'game.' sanke + otocon showed up of their own accord. ocelot was there to observe and make sure things ran smoothly

Personally I found Substance to be teh suck tbh. The VR missions were quite frankly pants, and the Snake Tales were poorly tacked together sections from the original MGS2 played in a different order. Couldn't they have at least shown us the struts you don't visit in MGS2? Or the shell 2 core before it floods? And your evidence that he's really in New York is... ?
If you die to Solidus, you get the simulation screen. Thus, its not real. The apparent facts are that Raiden never had a "real" adventure, he's likely hooked up somewhere being fed a VR simulation.
So, taking this logically on from when he "wins" the simulation, Rose still isn't real, neither is Snake, in fact nothing of the Big Shell episode is actually real. Sure, some bits and pieces might be real, for example there probably is a Solid Snake since we've played as him for a ton of games, however the Snake in Raiden's simulation is just another AI.
Or at least thats how the "its all a simulation" theory goes.
