Will it be better?
Well, i hear flayra got rid of spike on lerks and has replaced it with bite, now no one is going to own at all with lerk, its not an up close combat creature it is meant to be at a distance becouse it is weak, will giving back its bite help the aliens at all? On the other hand this is awsome, now i wont get shot up by far away lerks . This is only good for marines, not aliens. whats your opion?

And 1.04 flight is the same as 2.0, at least i think it is.
If you say it's better then I guess I got to take your word for it.
If so, late game lerks indeed seem to be useless...
And that is the reason why spikes were taken out, because the lerk is not supposed to spike down enemy structures.
In later game, the lerk can still be useful, however in a more passive, supportive way, through using umbra and (if 3 hives are up) primal scream.

Does that mean that aliens don't have any viable early game long range attack? Granted, spikes are not ALL that powerful to begin with, but having lerks with spike support is useful early game (IMHO). Few things are as satisfying to me as a spike kill (and you can get quite a few "cleaning up" in skirmishes). Plus it's fun to just generally harass structures knowing that that voice in the com chair is saying "base under attack base under attack"...
I'm not the best pilot so spikes are fun for me. But since I don't really know, I'm pretty much ambivalent and will wait and see
you may want to re-assess your definition of a "whine". this looks like discussion and pessimism, not whining. =P
I don't see how people think they're adding to anything by just being critical without any constructive feedback. it's pretty.. pointless.
anyway...
I am only concerned about the lack of a ranged attack, since there are none. maybe it's no big deal, but it seems like they SHOULD have atleast one "low-level" ranged attack.
I don't really see how spikes would have been more effective against HA than bite. Bite is probably more difficult to do, but if it does more damage than spikes then you're better off anyway.. since you'll either a) die while spiking HA anyway (so you might as well die doing more damage with a bite) or b) won't kill anybody with spikes even if you can use it, since the HA will catch on and just weld up, as spores are as useless as always.
just what I'm thinking...
I would be hiding in a big room in a dark corner, and I could spike the marine, (especially with silence III) and he would be like while his health went down.
No more stealthy shooter for me

Um, hopefully you recall that the only structures that spikes could take down without too much trouble were turrets? Have you any idea how long it takes to even dent an RT or TF with spikes? I have no issue with spikes being removed, but if the reason for removal was what you said, then that's totally illogical.
My opinion is that one shouldn't judge the new lerk before having played it.
With the new flight model it has become a much better killing machine AND early game lerks were really too powerful in 2.0.
So I'm all for the removal of spikes myself!
ME!
I already have 'o' bound to "say I HATE LERKS".
That is all I need to tell you, I think. Lerks are evil.

What are you doing spiking heavies? You should be supporting with umbra/primal.
Do explain.

I do primal, and umbra is pretty useless. But that stupid lone HA rine, why call for help when I can humiliate him instead?
But spike are cut out totaly or as a 3rd hive attack?
1) Lerk flight is improved and much easier to use
2) Umbra is fixed - it blocks 2/3 bullets instead of just 1/3. Most endgame forces include a lerk or two for umbra support, in both classic and combat.
3) Spikes are gone, period.
4) Lerk are not meant to be useful against HA except indirectly with umbra and primal scream. They are supposed to the aliens best counter against JPers (although onos are better right now because of their 12 ft claws o' doom). IMO, it still needs some improvements in the anti-JP department.

Umbra and Primal Scream for your mates.
Unless I missed some change somewhere.

A spiike can be done from AFAR. bite you gotta get up close and personal. and against a shotty or hmg, your toast.
im not sure if this has been suggested, but why not make the crouch make you fly backwards, or Crouch + KB-direction = fly in that direction.
ex. C + A = fly left, C + D = fly right, and etc. that way you can still fly somewhat like the old way and combined with the new one, which is better for charging i guess.
but perhaps C = backwards is just better. But i dont know.
Cheers...

Too funny.
