It isn't in 3.0, no, but it's probably being planned for 4.0 ( Probably).
Don't think it's such a stupid idea, if anyone but Flay has said that the next game play would be like DM, with no commanders, gorges, or resource nozzles, you would have laughed too.
The only thing anyone knows about post 3.0 is that the dev team will likely take a month or so break from doing any NS related work, then no one knows.
it would be quiet interesting and it would all be down to how well the commanders manage there team.

I must say knifing marine rts would feel wierd. It would probably come down to who has the most sieges, with a no-man's-land in the middle where no-one can set up a siege because it will instantly get blow up by the other side's sieges. This would be the "front line", and it would be interesting to see 2 teams with constant reinforcement via pg duke it out.
Happens all the time after winning the marine round in a scrim or match. The limited time before everyone is sent into the readyroom gives an extra challenge.
well, I don't think we will have to worry about balance issues too much, or maybe balance will be more of a problem, either way I think it would be awesome. Maybe MvM but I think more technologies will have to be implemented to allow for more strategies and paths of gameplay. Anyways; my R0.02

Unlike that.... thing.... There would be dynamic play. I wont bother you with all the arguments for MvM as they have all been reiterated time and time again. Just that people would love MvM gameplay, even in combat.

I guess you could say it was possible in 1.0 but it wasnt really Marine v. Marine. The aliens would use the bug 'stopcommandermode' and they would change into a Marine with 100 Lmg Bullets and 20 HG bullets. They were as fast as a skulk and pretty tricky. I remember one guy had snuck up behind a team moving to, um, on ns_nancy I forget that one place they had you move to after getting the res right outside of your MS. Anyways one of the exploiting skulks got behind us and killed us all with knife. At that time we didn't know what was going on but later on it was a fun bug. It's a good thing they fixed that bug. Marine v. Marine is a pretty good idea, Alien v. Alien would be weird. *Pictures an Onos devouring a Fade* Yeah, pretty weird.

Quite simply, why not? The goal is to take out the CC for both rine teams, might need a bit of tweaking but I see no overall problem...
