Very sad... I think we need to revisit the issue of human rights. This is far worse than Stalinism.

After re-reading this once more , I'm about to vomit. This 1984ish nightmare must be wiped out asap , it is tainting the history of Jamaica. I say we start an other revolution here and demolish the camp , freeing the jailed children. To the GIs out there... have the faith in your sacred mission shaken after the war in Iraq ? Go fight for the American children's freedom at Tranquility bay , for once you're certain this is a just cause !

Oh , and Crisqo , if you think the society needs that kind of "contribution" , then robots are much more reliable. Really... assuming you had read Orwell (not too sure about it) , can you imagine yourself locked in the Ministry of Love , frequently visiting the Room 101 ? Do you think any human deserves that treatment ? What about the average rebellious teenager then...

As usual though, we go from one extreme to the other. What surprises me is that it is considered unacceptable to smack a child, these days, but some find it acceptable to treat them this way instead.

The problems lie with the "do-gooders" who only see a snapshot of an individuals life. For the UKers, the biggest "do-gooder" we've got to blame is Esther Ranson. For the rest of the world, she set up Child Line, where kids could phone to report "abuse". While it will have picked up some cases, it isn't unusual for kids to phone because they were told off. (I've even heard on the bus a child [no older than 8] swearing at his mother and threatening to phone Child Line if she didn't do what he wanted)

    It's all sad.

Since the writer of this article is against the camp, I doubt he/she is going to have an objective view of the general population in this camp. And yeah, I agree, they shouldn't be sending kids to this camp. They should send them to some third world country to do relief work, the little **** should do some good work.

you can find lots of the NS communitys hatred and disgust for this camp plus several attack/rescue misson plans for forum fans to go liberate those kiddies. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Y'know, with a little paperwork and some "aggressive persuasion", I could have my unit in Jamaica by 3:00 tomorrow morning, and out again by 3:30, kiddies in hand.

Well there is a difference between civil rights and civil liberties. Rights gaurantee protection. Liberties allow people to do something. Kids need rights but not liberties.

Saying that since the writer of the article is against the camp, the information is inaccurate/biased/etc is like saying that reports of Nazi death camps in WW2 were inaccurate/biased/etc,because the people who wrote the reports were against the death camps.

Facts are facts...the kids ARE treated that way, conditions ARE that bad.

    Not really in my oppinion.

Concentration camps, as messed as they were, had more purpose than this in my oppinion.

From digging a hole to buring your dead, there was a much more specific goal in mind at hitler's death camps.

As opposed to this school, you are in for an indefinate amount of time, and receive not physical torture but mental torture.

It most definatly fits with George Orwell's <i>1984</i> best. Like Orwell wrote, "Our goal isn't anything you might have in mind. Power is a means to an end in itself."

This quote is wrong, but carries the same meaning.

Here's what you do if big guys come to try and kidnap you to go to Tranquility (at least what I would do):

When the guys break into your room and start to take you away, say "Wait, I have to get my inhaler." Then you reach into your dresser drawer and whip out old Sam Colt. It's hard to handcuff a person if you're staring down the barrel of a 45.

So here's the plan guys. We need to buy a sea-worthy boat that can hold a dozen people, then I'll get all my guns and we can storm the beaches of Tranquility Bay.
