Plus it's boring as hell to die from it. It's like camping a spot in q3 where railguns and a medicthingeys spawn regularly, yes you can kill the person doing it, but its hard, and its no fun at all for any non-railguncampz0r.

uhh, spammage and mines, thats about it. Maybe rush with knife? focus fire (it blocks 2/3) so you basically need 3 marines doing the work of 1. Unfortunatly grenades are the best answer to it, or jetpack out of the way.
Also note that umbra is a bit hard to use... from my experience, I'd guess that it's the SHOOTER which determines if you are inside the umbra or not... so if you are lagged and attacking a lagged shooter, there may well be half a second where you think you are in umbra, while the shooter thinks you are not .. and the shooter decides.

1. your numbers a not correct
lerk without cara: 125 + 30x2 = 185
lerk with cara: 125 + 60x2= 245
2. a lerk WILL dodge... no one with a brain would sit in front of an hmg as a lerk and no one would use a lerk without celerity.
a lerk will not remain in umbra that way, but flying at lightspeed doesnt hinder you spraying umbra at the hive. plus every hmg bullet fired at you is nearly wasted (you won't be able to kill a good lerk that easy with an hmg when he is flying 15m away from you).
an now now back to the topic:
i think lerks are not the real problem. he would be a much greater threat when had choosen the onos path. a lerk is a team player which has decent fighting capabilities. not hard to kill and a nice backup as an alien and why would we want to nerf the ability with the best principle in the whole game?
