look at the old nade launcher model, it looked like a rifle to me than a nade launcher, since it is not use anymore, can we use it as the lmg model for the marines

The old Grenade Launcher was actually supposed to be an HMG. But someone came up with new HMG stuff, and they bumped it (Since the GL model we see today wasn't quite ready yet.).

I like my LMG. Keeps the gritty feel.

That would be one big LMG.

The first time I ever used a GL I thought it was some wierd laggy rifle, cus I'd fire and nothing would happen and then something would explode

Actually managed to get a few kills using it like that though not as much as when I worked out what it was supposed to be.

It's in the Official Release topic in the NS Custom.

I think on page 1, 2 or 3. "Yet another LMG" I think it's called.
It's recoloured black, but if you have the old grenade launcher model at hand, you can just convert the textures in model viewer. That's what I did, as you can see in my signature (I don't have it availible for download, and I probably wont).

It's not big at all. Fits LMG better than HMG in my opinion.

Definately agree, I thought the same thing... "What, this is the gl. this looks like more of a machine gun to me?!" I think it would fit nicely seeming as the current lmg looks way to low-tech and non-lethal. The gl/lmg had more of a "this is what human weaponry will look like in the future" kinda look... sorta like a gauss rifle kinda feel.

It would get rid of those "If the LMG has a scope, how come I can't use it?" comments too.

The LMG looks like the FG scoped gun from DoD.

OMG, that model should be an official replacement. The sounds/look are TERRIFIC. It forces me to for-go the shotgun/hmg/gl just because it ROCKS. It fits so nicely, it is GREAT.

As far as I know, the old launcher model is being held back for possible later use. The LMG model is pretty much here to stay, though.

Later use for what? I thought the only firearm standing a reasonable chance of implementation was a flamethrower, and even that one would probably not work out on the H-L engine (aka. as long as NS is still on the H-L engine, the chances of getting one are minimal).

I gave you the exact full extent of my information. Let the speculation begin

Seriously, I guess it'll be used as the generic placeholder whenever the necessity arises.

wasn't the old GL model just a temporary hold over?

<-- what does that gun look like?

To re-iterate:
The old GL model was the first NS weapon model to be completed. It was supposed to fill the position of the HMG, but soon, it became apparent that looked implausible for the immense clipsize. It was then slightly remodelled and became the GL model, until Mike decided to do a special GL model, as well.

I bet it's a headcrab launcher. No no! A gigantic pistol as secondary weapon. Or a sniper-rifle. Or perhaps one of them barnacles No, a railgun. Maybe a rocketlauncher. A stun-gun, or a high-tech crossbow. Flamethrower perhaps? It looks kinda like a laser too. Or plasma, that'd be sweet. A grenadelauncher maybe (then again, maybe not). More like a virus-gun for biological warefare. Tracking device like marine parasites. Oh, oh, now I got it: a health-gun to heal marines. Or a...

Hey, you asked for it...
• DelphiDelphi Join Date: 2003-04-02 Member: 15134Members, Constellation
Was the muzzle flash the same, because I don't remember a blue-white flash.

It's very beautiful, however. The reload animation itself is a tad long (As soon as it does a double click, you can fire again, cutting the animation short), but it's a really good replacement. I really dig it.

This isn't the silenced/laser version, though. I found it on like, page 11 or something of the customization forums.

Over Ground has a beautifully done Flamethrower.

The flame looks good but the gun is kind of basic.

but yes, I am quite sure that they use the fg42 for inspiration, not from DoD necessarily but from real life, as after all it was a real gun.

Pretty sure we only care about the flame atm. Wouldn't want the actual model.

I thought the biggest concern was not as much the appearance of the flames, but the behaviour of the flames.

But fire has a really specific dynamic that'd be almost impossible to capture on an aging engine. I really think they should just bite it and release a decent (read: better than TFC) flamethrower and make it have a very specific strategy tied to it.

Variety is good, and a lot of people really don't care to see fire do firey things..

no, the old GL would be a heavy assult cannon that fires simi slow moving 10mm slugs. has a clip of 15. does about 75 damage per slug, fires at about 3 per second. very accurate. with an ammo stock of 60 rounds great for onos. and gorge, but not so great for the faster targets because of the slower moving rounds. (round will move as fast as gorge spit)

at least, thats what it looks like
hahahhahahahahah

can i just add to this conversation....when i saw the old GL i thought it looked like the American Land Warrior weapon system....well sorta, heres a link to a picture of one. The way it works is a display is mounted inot the helmet and the large scope on top transmits an image to it, so the soldier can see around corners and such. (sorry if you didnt want to know that... or already did, it may be slightly off topic)
