Open HLMV. Go to textures tab. Select the hands.bmp. Hit import. Select the hands.bmp I attached, hit OPEN. Do the same for the hands_black.bmp Select the hands_arm.bmp and import the one I attached. FILE -> Save model... Done.
Yay, finally! Do you still want to do this or do you have other things at hand? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
WEll here is the basic outline but I must say sadly all the detail is blurred out by the crazy amounts of streching on the skin mesh, I really dont c how you might be able to have a detailed skin on it. And I was just wondering do u have a completed mdl file?
I got a completed mdl, I amusing it ingame already <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> If you need I can adjust the texture map vertex coordinates <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Vash seams to have completely disappeared, so I'll <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/adolfkrug/bump.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' /> this thread. In the course of the creation of the Jin Roh arm-plate (and some booze...) I remapped my added parts, and ALL important (read = visible) parts should now be "easier" to skin. As suggested by Del, I want to show you the skinmap and hope that someone helps out with this skin, too <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
:NOTE: The upper left one and the one below it are supposed to "touch", as that is exactly the point whre the connection is on the model. Should create a smoother connection of the skin parts....
btw: Skinmapping is FUN! I think it makes almost more fun then creating the mesh <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I modified a DoD Stg44 to look like the prototype they used in Jin Roh. I made new animations, killsprite, sounds LA and Ha version and peewees, so it's ready to go, except some parts of the gun I had to redo completely. I need a skinner for this. These are the parts with the boring grey texture on it (mainly the front). Pls help me <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Hm? You still there? GREAT!!! Just pm me ya mail again (it got lost in the times...) and I'll send you the skin-ready package [skinmap, ms3d, mdl, smds+qc] <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Guess who hasn't send a lifesign yet? Yeah, right. So if you want to take a shot at skinning, you may go here and download the mesh with the bmps/ms3d and a v_mg.mdl to see direct results...

I'm not much of a (read = not) a skinner, but I'll try my hand at this. Worse case scenario is I go nowhere and no one cares, best case scenario is I unlesh my inner skinning beast and make everyone bow down to my iron fist <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I bow to everyone who can even a little little bit do skins, cause I suck at 2D arts, and I worship those who try to skin my models. May good luck and my praises be with you!
Question: Which file am I editing? I've been trying on skinmapvash.bmp, but, despite my insertion of pretty pink colors, I'm unable to see any difference. :\
That's the right file. When u look at it in ms3d u have to reselect the bmp as a material or reload the model to see differences. In HLMV just import the modified one :/
It seems like I can only work with a 2-bit color palette (Blizzack and whizzite). I tried converting to a higher color range, but it won't accept the bitmap as a skin.
Why doesn't anything like me?
[EDIT] Been working in black/white, and got the first beta skin done. [/EDIT]
