<div class="IPBDescription">Anyone?</div>Anyone play with an inverted y-axis on the mouse? Seems that I'm the only guy in the world that does. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

That's not all though - I use the WASD keys for movement, but I use the A key to sidestep <i>right</i> and the D key to sidestep <i>left</i>.
You may point and scream "Freeeeek!". <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Defaults for me thank you. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
bind Z "lookdown"

bind ctrl "+attack"
bind leftarrow "+left"
bind rightarrow "+right"

No mouse is how REAL men play HL. At least I think.
btw jediyoshi, nice delusions of moderator granduer D: "Moved to off topic"
plus my good buddie is the best CS player i have EVER laid eyes on, and he also curses the WASD disease lol
ARROW KEYS FOH LIFE!
esdf > wasd , but i still use wasd.
Actually, I think I'm somewhere on the scale between left-handed and ambidextrous, which could explain why I don't use inverted mouse -- I can throw a frisbee decently well with both hands, and I used to be able to write legibly with my right hand (before I broke my arm, that is). I also catch and throw right-handed(and I play guitar right-handed, but that really doesn't count).
So, uhh....what was the question again? <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
For movement, I've pretty much always used ESDF. Being a proficient touch-typer, this is the natural position for my left hand, so it's easy to find and stay on even if I reach for a distant key (I usually have Enter bound to "drop weapon").
As for my mouse - I used to be a standard mouser, until one game changed it all: Drakan. For those of you who missed it, Drakan had two gameplay forms - Tomb Raider-style 3rd person, and 3rd-person dragon-back (a flight sim of sorts). I was fine with it until I finally got on the dragon for the first time... when my days of Wing Commander kicked in, and I pushed the mouse FORWARD to look down. The problem is, you couldn't set mouse axes independently for each character... so I had to choose which of the two would be easier to adjust. And especially considering that Drakan features a fair amount of melee combat, the flight sim element won out, and I inverted my mouse.
And I've been that way ever since! (:
It was funny, in my kindergarten class I was the only leftie, and my teacher who happend to be new did not realize that...and she tried to teach us all right handed. And when report cards rolled around she wrote horrible comments about how I had terrible motor control when writing and using scissors and the like. Then my mom asked why the teacher why she had me writing right handed and the teacher asked "What other way would he write?". If I was old enough to file a complaint I would have had her fired.
Gimme the good old YGHJ any day. It's almost in the center of the keyboard so I can stretch my fingers in different areas for different keys and never reach!
also i use the home row for movement, which alot of people cant understand. at least it keeps people off of my computer at lan parties.
Its all Duke Nukem 3D's fault ..
well, actually him, the LAN at my old HS and a player that always played with it.
I was a strait keyboard user at the time and using a mouse seemed rather odd and silly.
I desided to try it one day and it took some getting used to, but its now become my standard.
Any game I play has inverted movement. FPS - Flight sims. PC's - consoles.
I cant play it anyother way, and I care not to learn.
Its also a nice way of keeping people off your games ...
and I use my mouse uninverted. except for flight sims, but those are few and far between
Btw. I have a five button-2-wheel-mouse... Is there a way to bind additional mousebuttons into HL/ NS? Let's say, reload and teamsay or sth. And what about the second wheel? One to cycle weapons, and one to... hm. well... cycle menus or sth. ?

who said he was good? haha i kid, i kid... [edit] everyone says my controls are wierd... how about you guys tell me... i use an optical trackball first-off, and use mouse-look. my forward/back buttons are up/down arrows. my strafe left and strafe right are right and left arrows. my jump is shift, my crouch is control, and my use is enter. bweh works fine for me <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->[/edit]
Funny you say that, my handwriting now is terrible....I link it back to that. Back to the mouse topic 9.0 sensitivity all the way!
