And if you haven't done so yet, check out the in-game multiplayer videos at http://www.splintercell.com There's one from the spy point of view and one for the mercs.
decided to use the spy toys this time around, the two at the table are easily taken care of with those. I like to shoot the diversion cam at a nearby wall, whistle from it, one comes over to investigate and I gas him. The other one is very easy then. Or you could gas them both with the gas grenade. or frag, or shock, or....
edit: btw, have any of you found that you don't try things in games because you're used to limitations in previous games? I never tried shooting out the lights for a while in this.

Okay, on multiplayer: First off, the Rainbow6 games do not exactly have stealth based multiplayer. Single-player and T-hunt is almost arguable, but that's not anywhere close to how 8v8 matches play out. Lots of bullets go everywhere. It's like CS but with frailer bodies and much more realistic firing mechanics.
2v2 for splinter cell is an entirely different kind of multiplayer. The intent is specifically so that matches don't devolve into a spray of bullets. You actually have to use some guile, rather than just memorize a few maps. The other emphesis is on atmosphere, which comes from being almost alone and fighting for your life.
I didn't even really care for the first iteration of the game, but I'm really looking forward to a new style of gameplay.
So, yeah, if you want CS with ninjas you're out of luck.

Edit: As far as I know, certain GeForce 2 cards do in fact have hardware T&L - my old GF 2 MX did, and was supported by the original Max Payne.

There's one from the spy point of view and one for the mercs.
It's an ambitious idea, let's hope it's executed properly!

If I'm a merc and notice that I was hit with a spy bullet, I'm definately making jokes about liking women's underwear.
