I'm no astronomer, but i'm pretty sure that we are on some sort of moon. Looking at it, Subnautica (which is the name i've arbitrarily given to the celestial body the game takes place on) is either tidally locked with its parent pl… -

Oh man. It's gonna be Terraria all over again -

Well, it's just a theory. But seeing as how things like anglerfish exist, it's entirely possible. -

You would know this if you were paying attention to the discord chat. Empress is female and possibly the same species as dragon, only sexually dimorphic. -
First of all, it's sea empress. Secondly, she will still most likely be in the game, just at a later date, maybe when they start adding in more deep ocean biomes.

The way I see it, they're trying to make a sort of open world adventure game. Think Skyrim, except with only one quest and several survival mods installed. They're giving you the freedom to do whatever, but as you do whatever you do, you learn more …

But speaking of farming, I know of a certain muddy biome that might fit in quite well

Well that's just silly. In a game where so many things are out to kill you, weapons should be a must have, especially if we do end up finding sentient life deep underwater. I do like the idea of helplessness, especially against mas… -

But look, it's a, get this, STASIS rifle, not a lightning rifle or a disco rifle. It should do what it says on the tin, put things in stasis, adding all these different functions to it would ruin game balance and make many differen… -
@TerraBlade
First of all, the stasis rifle doesn't have infinite ammo. Yes, acid mushrooms grow out of the woodwork in the shallows, but copper is a bit… -
Here's what I think. Move the both floater island and the mountain far enough away that they remain out of the player's view when near the lifepod. Simple as that, no strings attached. I love the feeling of isolation it gives when you seen nothing b…

You're treading a very thin line at this point, and your argument can go in either direction. Sure, the animals are being defensive and just trying to survive, but so are you in attacking hostile creatures. You're defending yoursel… -

It's probably what's known as a cold seep. It's a place where chemicals trapped in the earth such as methane and, more specifically, hydrogen sulfide, leak through into the ocean bottom forming a brine pool that is, ironically, war… -

Sure, we're in the super future and all, but any way of trying to inspect the innards of these creature would result in its death, or at least mutilation. No amount of xrays or whatever the hell they would be using at that point in… -

WE are dissecting them. You can't really learn much about the inner machinations of a creature without splitting it open and poking around at its insides. A normal person wouldn't be able to look at a starfish and figure out how it… -
I don't know how late I am to this discussion, but i'm just gonna say this. It's hard to dissect creatures that are still alive. :^)

I suppose one could flip things around a bit and make it sort of like the antithesis to the Lost River. The river is an area of death and decay while the oasis is a cradle of life. Maybe make the mud stagnant instead and it could work.

Well what i heard is that the lost river was just a region of highly toxic water. Looking back on it there are quite a few similarities, though. -

Oh no, you wouldn't be eating the mud itself, but instead you'd extract the little animals living inside the mud to eat, small things like shellfish and maybe crabs. -
I'd have to say that your ideas seems sound, except for the whole Aurora part. Perhaps they should make it so that the reactor explosion has a lot more impact on the environment, especially the Aurora. If a nuclear power plant has a catastrophic mel…

The stars and planets are in fact randomly generated, the only exception is planets and stars that are well documented, which the ED team will handcraft.
