• I don't know if the performance would be that much better with D3D, because I haven't seen it before. But it runs fluently here, there are only some minor graphics glitches on board the cyclops (textures of walls are slightly flickering).

  I finally got it working with the startup-parameter: -force-opengl
  
  Maybe you can give it a try too. The game looks good to me now.
