Saying things like this to people, even when it's 100% accurate really isn't appropriate for the forums. Doesn't help the conversation. -

Putting a huge spread on the LMG instead of simply doing damage falloff at longer distances is mind boggling stupidity. If your aim is to nerf the range of the rifle, then nerf the range of the rifle. Don't do it behind a terrible… -

Just because there are a ton of people who apparently would get smashed by bronze level SC2 players who try to comm, doesn't actually mean there's much skill in comming.
The point that IAMKING is driving at, is that com… -

If you suddenly decided to make rookie mode an actual barrier, I'm pretty sure most people would do it. Because you'd have people like me actively telling people on the forums how to get around such a ridiculously stupid system.*Snip* Do not post instructions on how to troll or exploit in NS2?? ..Duh - Ironhorse

I'm pretty sure the last thing anyone wants to do at a LAN event is interviews inbetween maps. Would completely detract from a teams focus and momentum. Might be more entertaining for spectators, but it would be horrific for the pl…Descent looks cool and plays awful. Just way too much clutter on the map from a gameplay perspective, and all of the non-hydro tech points are nightmares in marine turtle situations (in pubs).(Quote)
Test the spread yourself on a stationary skulk at that range - you will not miss bullets. The spread simply isn't big enough. Sorry.
The broader takeaway point that *should* be obvious here. If the netcode is suc…(Quote)
The bullet spread on the LMG is extremely minimal. The skulk could be across the room and you'd still hit every LMG bullet without a problem. The ret was on the skulk for the entire time as well. That clip is just a preview for a l…It's worth noting @Matso that the netcode/hitreg actually isn't anywhere close to fixed. Later today (probably) I'll be posting a video that clearly shows how the hitreg…(Quote)
I have that monitor, and it actually has another really significant benefit: zero motion blur.

This really isn't even remotely true. Successful ramboing means that one player was able to drastically outskill other players for a significant length of time. Unless you can prove that there is serious imbalance at equal level…(Quote)
Skulks don't require more skill to play effectively now. Something becoming weaker due to a nerf is not an act that increases the skill ceiling of a gameplay element - in many cases it's the opposite. The gap between an average sk…(Quote)
Solo marines are easily killed. So long as the people going in on the marine are at a similar skill level to the marine that is. I don't feel its right that a high skill marine should simply die to 2 bad to average players j…(Quote)
Agreed. The arguments previous in the thread are entirely irrelevant to this key, critical fact. The pistol mechanic should be reworked into something that makes discussions like these moot.

Every game with any sort of skill depth is going to have mechanics that are always used and clearly the optimal choice. They are the base mechanics that make up critical gameplay elements. If you nerf those base mechanics, p…(Quote)
Driver software that allows you to rebind keyboard/mouse functions != macro programs. Rebinding a key is not a macro, nor is it the definition of a macro. And beyond that, trying to make distinctions on what players can bind keys t…(Quote)
You can adjust gamma directly on a bunch of different monitors as well, without interacting with the PC on any level.

Are you really at the level where you're going to call using mouse/keyboard software to rebind keys to different functions as cheating? Because I can't think of a single competitive game that's ever taken that ridiculous stance. I…(Quote)
It's a meaningless distinction though. The word script is a dirty word, but the reality is that you can subvert the click to fire system in other ways that are seen as legal. The easiest (since binding to mouse wheel effectively i…(Quote)
Playing devil's advocate here for a second:
I'm hard pressed to blame the user in situations where developers introduce a mundane mechanic that's easily subverted by a variety of methods. It doesn't really matter where…Nanoshield is a badly designed gameplay element when it comes to its use on marines. It's a no-skill direct "I win" button that effectively makes a good shotgun marine into God for 8 seconds. No thanks.(Quote)
Just because you don't like the reality of something doesn't mean that reality isn't true. Video games, especially FPS games, are almost always defined by certain playstyles being dramatically better than all other options. I'm goi…(Quote)
Click to fire being interesting isn't actually a thing though. There's plenty of legal ways of subverting it to max fire rate, which means that it's a flawed mechanic.

The current version isn't more powerful than what you suggested for actual play though. Biggest reason is that 40 normal x 10 is packing a crapload more killing power before a reload than 25 light x 10. Making 3 slower timed shot…(Quote)
Correct. Right now there's not a single consumer class computer that can run NS2 anywhere close to a stable 120 FPS. My FPS ranges from 100 FPS in areas with absolutely nothing going on (no buildings, hardly any people), to as low …(Quote)
The problem with that logic is that shotguns exist. Shotguns crush skulks at any upgrade level with good aim, which means that the combination of armor 2-3/shotguns holds far more effective power than a W2 rush.

Honestly, that'd probably make the pistol really OP. Tracking aim is always going to have a level of inaccuracy that twitch single shot aim doesn't have. Methods of rapid firing the pistol right now still come with the downside of …
