This game is pretty cool. Lots of tech options, big maps, possibility for big battles(500+ units on the map). If you have a crappy computer, it will probably be unplayable.

the bullsht download speed on GAMESPOT is definitely making this game unplayable. i'm gonna try FP.. hopefully that's somewhat better..

I downloaded it from FP myself using my non paid acct. Gotta love 700KB-1MB/sec d/l speeds. Think the waiting period was longer then the actually download.
This game seems pretty well built no crashes so far and performance is pretty good at 1280x1024 with max settings with 4x AA.

Fixed.
Queueing systems drive me insane. There's absolutely no cause for them apart from a chance to a. Get you to give them money and b. shove a little extra advertising down your throat.
Artificially induced delays make Shockwave something something.

If that isn't sufficient, I shall be most upset. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
What you can do about it, then, is to either increase your available bandwidth (phatter pipe, meaning more dineros out of your pocket) or limiting the amount of people that can connect at any one time. However, the latter option means that if someone tries to connect when the maximum amount of users is connected, they will get a 404 error - or some other error of your own device. At any rate, they won't be able to download. Once a slot opens, the first one to attempt to connect will get it. Somebody may have been waiting for hours to download, but if somebody else connected at just the right time, there goes the slot. A queue system gets annoying "your link is broken, please fix" emails out of your hair and ensure that those at the front of the queue get the next slot.
But I'm sure that a lot of queue systems also exist for exactly the reasons Shockwave mentioned.

Search TPB for it. I would post a link but the mods here might rape me.
To avoid being pointless, I'll add that I'm hella excited about this game and wont even bother with demos, I'll just buy it and deal with the framerates afterwards. Awesomeness awaits!
why are most these comments totally pointless?

I was able to play the demo relatively well(medium settings) on my comp which is 2 years old(9800xt, 1.5gb ram, 3ghz). The demo was alot of fun (even though the AI handed my ###### to me multiple times) and I definetly plan on getting the full version. Me and my group of friends have been looking for a new RTS for a long time ever since we got tired of all the BS on C&C generals (lack of balance, lack of mature opponents, too many connection problems) and Im hoping this will be it.

we're talking about how to GET the demo in order to play it.. not exactly pointless.
calm yourself, and your hormones, before posting.

I played the beta and I think the final game has some good potential as long as they managed to fix some of the balance issues.
The game will royally suck for single player but for MP it should be good, it'll have a good bit of replay value with 40 official maps and a community that'll probably make a new map / mod every few days.
I think its worth noting that around release day there will be a patch for dx10 and a few fixes etc.
9 days till my pre-order finally arrives from play.com..
Futhermore, the rock-paper-scissors format is more painful here than ever before- a single anti-ground turret managed to take my 40 assault-vehicle force down to 25 before they could mass it down- yet, they were able to take 80(!) of the light assault vehicles without losing 10 of themselves! Its a little crazy there. Really, at a point, effectiveness needs to have a limit.
My other gripe about it is a lack of a better interface. The current one takes up a lot of space, but makes it no easier to do much. Having such large icons(do I really need a 100x100 pixel icon to tell me its a effin' bomber) to then not have ANY text saying its a bomber until I mouseover it is just going to piss off new players quickly.
This is certainly a game for the hardcore, though. I probably will get back into RTS' thanks to it -.-
Otherwise though, the animations are awesome to watch, and its a graphical powerhouse to watch firefights.
i built a force of about 100 dudes, one part heavy assault guys, one part artillery, and one part AA. i massed them at that central pass, and they all got into a sprawling but orderly formation, which looks super impressive.
however..
i order them to advance, and they sluggishly begin, one by one and row by row, to move in the general direction of where i clicked. why not stay in rows and just advance? eventually they had to turn a corner around a hillside. i order them to move to the other side and about 70% of the force gets hung up on the hillside and gives up even trying to get around, while the 10% that have already made it there are engaging the enemy!!
you'd figure that if the whole force moves in formation to cross the pass east, and then moves in formation south to attack the enemy, you'd be devoting that whole formation to the battle! apparently not.
they'll probably fix these kinds of things, but altogether i think it's just not for me.
on the other hand, i have very, very high hopes for CnC3. i'm super psyched.
It's way too complicated, and I have no idea WTH I'm supposed to be doing besides the generic stuff you do in every RTS, which I thought the whole point of the game was to get away from. It seems like pure micromanagement hell too, which makes me sad.
And it runs absolutely terrible even on the lowest settings, even on my not-rock-bottom-of-the-requirements-list PC.
