YOUR FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME
<div class="IPBDescription">a difficult question, no?</div>Here it is... what is your favorite pc/console game of ALL TIME
When considering... think about which one has given u the fondest gaming memories and the most memorable single moments. U might also think about how much time u wasted playing it lol.
for me its really difficult but the shortlist is:
- natural selection (duh!)
- Final fantasy 7
- Dawn of War
- Day of defeat
In total i probably have spent 100s of hours playing ff7 (lol not nemore though.. that was like 5 years ago). Ive probably spent more still on ns.. and dod comes close. Dawn of war is a relatively recent installment, but to me its one of the most perfectly made RTSs out there, and the setting (not a fan of 40k generally btw) is just awesome.
Id love to hear what some of you guys think....

if we are goign by what I have spent them ost time on? yah.
My favorite game(s)?
Probably toping the list are the new Castlevania games (PoR, DoS, CoM, HoD, AoS, as well as the ones like them on the consoles, though I have not played them much).
below them are probably a few clasic RPGS (Crono Trigger, Mario RPG, etc).
For MMOs I have to say CoH/V.
I have mosty drifted away from FPS games as they raerly can hold my interest now (STALKER managed to for a little bit).
Shadow of the Colossus
StarCraft
Phantasy Star Online (Original Dreamcast Version)
Bubble Bobble
Bomberman (original SNES one or the arcade)
Zelda: Link to the Past
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Ragnarok Online (my first MMO :3 )
Rakion (Before it was wrecked by the international publisher)
Crusader (I think I only Played 'No remorse'... dont think I got to try 'no regret')
Gunstar Heroes
Super Probotector
Super Mario World (best mario ever)
Guilty Gear XX (and all the other versions after that except Dust Strikers and Isuka).
I think that's everything but I love so many games!!! XD
But seriously, Thief. Putty was an awesome game though.
DUNE2 (without it, no rts)
Command and Conquer (the 1993 one)
I just finished playing through the story again the other day. That game is just fun...
- <b>Natural Selection</b> (PC): Simply put, I've never invested as much time into a game I enjoyed. Obviously it's harder these days, it's an old title, engine-wise, but the gameplay sometimes can bring me back again & again.
- <b>UFO: Enemy Unknown</b> (PC): I wanted to put Vandal Hearts here, I really did. These two games are actually quite similar in some ways, but UFO:EU pipped it to the post. It's simply genius, and damn difficult above easy too.
- <b>Secret of Mana</b> (SNES): Another close fight, between this & Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Secret of Mana wins for being pretty much the only truely multiplayer RPG of it's era, and having an actually really good storyline. Runner up was Final Fantasy 3.
- <b>DooM</b> (PC): Hours, and hours, and hours of my life lost to this game. Getting hold of (Hooray for BBS dialup!) custom map packs, and playing them for hours as well. Deathmatch over IPX. Cooperative gaming. The Cyberdaemon. The noise of it walking still gives me the jitters.
Special runners-up awards go to: Exile on the BBC, Bubble Bobble (<3 Gem, seriously) Dune 2, StarCraft, Diablo 1 and 2, Magic Carpet, Terminal Velocity, TIE Fighter, Wing Commander 1 + 2, Elite, Cylon Attack, Xenon 2 Megablast, Gods, Zool, (God, I've so failed at this 'cull' I espoused) Epic, The Star Wars Arcade Game, Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario Kart, General Chaos, Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder, Street Fighter 2 and onwards incarnations apart from the Vs series, (How did you not make it to top 5?!) Mechwarrior 2, Mechwarrior : Mercenaries, Actraiser, Megalomania, Populous, Syndicate(!!!), WipeOut (puzl, you know you love me!), Phantasy Star: Generations of Doom, Privateer, Freelancer, and so on, and so on, and so on.
Damn. I fail, don't I?
- Shockwave
EDIT: Added Exile. It felt wrong it not being there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Rick Dangerous. The first game I can ever remember playing, and I used to love the game for the "wahhhhhhhh" the guy made when he died.
Past that, Sonic 1 (the first game I personally owned, rather than playing stuff that belonged to parents or whatever).
Day Of Defeat
GTA: SA
Dawn Of War: Dark Crusade
Natural Selection (when I was still playing it, at any rate).
Monkey Island 3. I say 3 instead of 1 & 2 (although they were awesome too) because the voice acting was just perfect, and it added awesome to the game. If 1 & 2 had the same voices, it'd be them instead.
Also a game called A.R.S.E.N.A.L (no idea what it stands for, if anything). It's an RTS that was awesome, but no one I know seems to have heard of it. I used to play the demo alone for months before I finally found the damn game.
Deus Ex
No One Lives Forever 1 and 2
Natural Selection
The Specialists
X-Wing and TIE Fighter
Dark Forces 2
Star Wars: Rebellion
The Monkey Island games
Planescape: Torment
X-COM: UFO Defense
Jagged Alliance 2
Crimson Skies
Day of Defeat
Half-Life 2
Warcraft 3
easily brings back the fonded memories of any game I've ever played. I want to play it again so badly.
Anyway, that's my favorite; but for other things:
First game played:
River Raid on the Atari 2600 (...I could very well have played something else like Journey Escape or M*A*S*H or something, but that's the first I remember).
Favorite game owned:
Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles
Favorite CD-based game:
Final Fantasy 7
Favorite current-gen (non PC) game:
Dead Rising
Favorite PC game, all-time:
SimCity 2000 with Urban Renewl Kit (although SimCity 3000 is technically better, because it is a more in-depth 2000, I played SC2000 far longer...plus 3000 didn't have archs)
Game played the most:
...Everquest or WoW (...probably EQ, remembering how hard it was to level an utterly useless Paladin).
Weaklings, with your 20 choice 'favorite' game. I can understand having 1 or 2 or even 3 games you switch between, getting bored with one and then deciding the other one is better for a bit, but 10s and 20s of games? Bah, pick the one you've spent the most time on or had the most fun with, stop copping out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> .
