    *sigh* I put a lot of how I feel into <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=4178867668091750400&showtopic=101435&st=27" target="_blank">this post</a> but alas as usual the OT Forum readers don't read through the previous posts. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Those Rush Hour 2 bloopers are great Thansal, and yes I was aware of the hint at a sequel UltimaGecko but I had totally forgotten about it until you brought it up. Thanx. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

heh, I think at the time it was more just a "well, we are making ###### loads of cash off of this, we can probably make a 3rd!", However it still had me hyped from the first time I saw it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

On the note of sequel hating? meh, don't care. People can think what ever they want. I will go see the movies that make me happy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I will be seeing Pirates 3, as I love Pirates 1&2

    oh, and

/troutsmack for calling Matrix a ground breaking film.

    Go watch Dark City.

(BTW, Matrix is awesome, for what it is: A film with lots of friken awesome gun fights)

Whatever <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> , I love the Matrix (but not so much for the sequels honestly), the culture shockwave it created was much like Blade Runner's and for that reason it should be considered as ground breaking, no? I stand by my opinion.
  • ThansalThansal The New Scum Join Date: 2002-08-22 Member: 1215Members, Constellation
Yah, basically the difference between Dark City and Matrix was that Matrix has mass market appeal.

Dark City has a rather similar idea, and is really worth a watch (it is also much more interesting then Matrix <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)

Again, I love The Matrix, but Dark City trumps it:D

    ~edit~

Okay now let's try to get back to the topic of the upcomming sequels.

Is there anything you all want to see in particular happen or be implemented in one or more of those films?

Harry Potter should be good, as should the new Pirates movie.

28 Weeks Later was pretty good. Not as good as 28 Days Later, but still awesome. Very action oriented though. But there is a single scene with a helicopter that alone makes the ticket price worth it. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it.

Spiderman 3 was, of course, awful.

I should catch up on the Harry Potter films.

I love the books, but I never really got into the movies for what ever reason. I think I have seen most of them (though never in one sitting, kept catching them at various points at my old job). However I don't think I ever saw the last one....

Dark City was really quite amazing. But they had to know when they were making it most people wouldn't be able to get past the creapy imagery.

Yes you should catch up. The most recent one (the Goblet of Fire) was a pretty good one, a lot darker than the earlier ones. I like the darker feel admittedly. And people actually die! Woot! Well not really woot <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> , but as I said it's darker.

Well, I am pondering how they handle Harry going Emo is GoF, and going more Emo in OotP. Those were my biggest complaints with the books, Harry gets emo, and I wana smack him.

It's nice to see that seeing Rush Hour 2 on TNT 30 times hasn't corrupted my memory (...what is it, the Mummy and Rush Hour 2 channel? Do they have anything else?)...

I was thinking of starting a thread to discuss why some movies are popular and some are not, but I got side-tracked looking at the highest grossing movies of all time, and then the highest grossing newly released DVD...and then seeing what DVDs were going to be released this week and then which movies are opening...and then I figured, hey, why not look down the list a bit (since each week I looked at had one of the sequels listed in this thread - except June 1st because June is evil or something), until I saw that Hostel 2 is apparently set to be released on Friday June 8th in theatres (not that the first one was really worthy of anything more than "straight to video, 'dude, is there a plot to this movie?', 'Slovakia is apparently evil, but let's apologize to Iceland for having a nymphomaniac Icelander and not to Slovakia for slandering their country'"-DVD release (now, some might say that's a tight category to squeeze into, but there's gotta be at least ...what... <i>a</i> movie that fits)). If you're confused by my ill-punctuated, hyper-parenthiated ramblings:

Another sequel this year: Hostel 2...exciting release information for all sorts of other movies <a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?release=theatrical&view=bydate&p=.htm" target="_blank">here</a>.

(that's right, there's no verb that means 'to put parentheses in' so I invented parenthiate - do not knock my grammarness).

He didn't go Emo in GoF to me at all. That's why OotP was quite shocking to me, mainly in the first bit, due to how much shouting and screaming Harry did.

He did the same stupid stuff at the start of the trials.

Basicly Harry is what I don't like about Harry Potter, everytihng else is awsome. and even Harry isn't all THAT bad. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

This probably contributes to why I have actualy read (and enjoyed) HP Fan Fic (this fact shames me to no end. As well as confusing the hell outta me).

I just noticed I have over 8K posts.

    I have no life.

I'd like to bring up yet another sequel. Probably even less-deserving than Hostel, but this time with a far more likable premise: <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758730/" target="_blank">Aliens versus Predator 2</a> is due out on...uh, Christmas (because nothing says "I love you Jesus" like aliens fighting over human caracasses). It's directed by two people I've never heard of, but are apparently partly responsible for the visual effects of numerous other movies...so potentially maybe it might not be completely horrible...it is apparently supposed to be rated R...

...then again, it's got 'top-billed' actors playing decisive characters like 'Ricky' and 'Dallas'.

[edit]Only upon re-reading my post have I discovered that 'hostile' and 'hostel' are homophones in my mind...bah[/edit]

umm, it actualy looks like some of the writers from the Aliens series and the Predator series are doign character writting for it.

However, the head writer has only one tihng under his belt that I have seen before, and that is Shaft......
