I come back to this thread and people have moved off from talking about the demo and system requirements to the game proper. Please can a mod split the thread I've already read about 5 (gameplay) spoilers. Nobody wants to know how to solve any sections of the GAME when they start reading a thread about the DEMO. >:(
has anyone really posted any spoilers? all I've seen have been tips, all of which are meaningless plotwise and would mean nothing to someone who hasn't played the game or gotten very far in it. spoiler: you can harvest or save little sisters - something we've known about the game for probably about a year and a half already.
I just beat the game for the first time. somewhat abrupt ending but a very satisfying game overall :>
My computer, bless its cotton socks, is getting old and arthritic. Its only got an AGP slot and right now a 9800xt. I don't really want to do the whole *brand new computer* thing right now, and since the 9800 series isn't shader 3.0 compatible I'll need to get a new graphics card at the very least.
I've got a P4 3.2ghz HT, 1 gig ram. Do you think it would be worth me getting this X1950 Pro AGP card as a hold over for the next year or so?
one of the product reviews on the site was of a user with the exact same circumstances as myself. he said:

Bioshock runs at max settings at 1280 resolution extremely well (!!!). Bioshock really surprised me at how well it ran, and I am extremely pleased. Great card <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />"
Do you think I'm being overly optimistic to have similar results with my rig? Is it even possible to say what will happen?

If I wanted to be told what combinations of weapons to use I would read Bioshock: The Game Guide. Interactivity is one of key features that distinguishes games from books. Since there is no competitive element I want to experiment with things until I find what works best, not be told it from the very start and have the 'exploration factor' voided. Yeah, calling something one of the best games of the year definitely suggests that you should sit it out. It's funny how people gloss over all the wonderful praise he gives the game when they want to use his criticisms to justify the opinion they've already formed about the game.
It may be one of the best games of the year, but its been a pretty ######ty year. Besides, I've already played SS2, I don't think its at all worth it to pay ($50? Whatever they're charging) for what is basically the same game, only prettified and dumbed down a bit.
If I hadn't already played SS2 (which has a co-op mode that is really fun), then I'd probably play Bioshock, probably on a friend's 360 so I could avoid SecuROM bull###### and so I don't have to buy a new system.

I'm reaching the end now, hope that spoiler I read elsewhere isn't true.
