I am sorta confused (Having not played the demo b/c my internet is dead) why would you think you would fry yourself using the electro plasmid if you stood in water?
You are creating and channeling electricity in your body, how is it going to HURT YOU?
Even there, all the pictures/videos I have seen show you tossing it out of your hands, so unless you were to toss it from your hand INTO the water, it should not fry you (You can blow dry your hair when standing in the tub, so long as you don't drop it in)
I meant, when I lured bad guys into the water in order to zap the water and fry them, I made sure to jump on a table or something first before zapping the water. it seems a little lame if you can zap the water with you in it and fry the bad guys standing in the water but not yourself... I assume having the electric plasmid doesn't make you immune to electricity. I had the fire plasmid in the demo and I was still hurt by fire.
Gamespot seems to have a more level-headed review than most. They do point out some of the flaws of the game. I somewhat regret reading the review though, because it revealed some things about the weapons and enemies that I probably should have waited to be surprised by. they're a little harsh on the AI, I think. In the demo, the enemies did try to flank me and stuff. yeah, the melee mobs rush at you when you're in an open space, but that makes sense. they have to approach you to get in melee range. the mobs with ranged weapons strafe and shoot you, retreat and regroup, etc.

pretty darn sweet. My only regret for buying on steam is not getting this and the remix CD that apparently came with the LE. Have you listened to the Moby remix yet? I <3 Moby.

You get used to it. It's a very common way to implement widescreen, and now that Games for Windows requires widescreen resolutions to work developers will probably go for the quick fix quite often.
A quote from a Joystiq article about the launch party in Boston:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Did we spend any time with BioShock designer Ken Levine? No. We did spend some time with the guy who came up with the idea of the Big Daddies and he said that he always found diving suits scary. We also had to ask him the ultimate motivation-irking BioShock question, "What would possess a man to take a syringe, with no explanation of what's inside it, and jam it into his forearm?"
His response: "We get that one a lot. We probably should have had Atlas say something to make it more fluid. But it'll all make sense by the end of the game." Of course, BioShock is out now if you're looking to learn the secrets of Rapture.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I found it amusing, because I think it crossed all our minds in the demo. let's hope it is indeed explained.
<!--quoteo(post=1645024:date=Aug 21 2007, 12:01 PM:name=lolfighter)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(lolfighter @ Aug 21 2007, 12:01 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--> Am I the only person left who atually LIKES 4:3? <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I don't mind it, but widescreen makes a lot more sense because we see a lot more left and right than we do up and down. That's not to say the way many or even most games implement widescreen works very well, but there's a reason all movies are done in that format. It's more natural when it's done right.

Got it today (360) and yeah, so far, its living up to the hype.
That is all. Please buy this game, now. You dont even have to be a fan of the old system shock games (hell if i would know, i havent even played SS1 or 2!) but if you like games in the vain of Half-Life1/2, then this is the next big thing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" />

all games will have similarities to other games in their given genre - it just depends on the quality.
hopefully there will be a 4 player coop patch from 2k games, just like there was with system shock 2, making it possibly the best game ever made.

Widescreen is just a stretched 4:3 image with the top and bottom cut off. This is in both 360 and PC versions.
/sigh

One thing I did not mention about the figurine.
The tip of the drill is broken off.
You can just see it in the picture I posted.
The good news is <a href="http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/busted/" target="_blank">here</a>.
So I get an art book too.
I'd prefer black margins...
