So is anyone bothered by the new character graphics? Personally I don't care either way, but I've seen plenty of complaining.
Still can't wait to play as a hunter zombie. It'll be like <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skulk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::skulk::" border="0" alt="skulk.gif" /> all over again!

Linkeh?
Other than that, who cares? As long as there are plenty of zombies to splatter.
It's a question of the game itself. Until I have it in my hands and I've fragged my way through a couple of scenarios, I tend to withhold judgment. Graphics can be eh, but stellar gameplay and well executed goals make the game, not that you've become attached to a previous model.
I hope they get a good animation system. HL2 fast zombies were kinda weird looking when they jumped.
The player-controlled infected should even the odds.

With the AI Director thing they've got I imagine that when you set it it to "really hard" it can just dynamically adjust the difficulty to make things really brutal. I'm 99% sure that the way it works is that you choose a difficulty and the game shapes the experience to that difficulty, so I imagine the "brutal" setting will be truly brutal no matter how good you are.
Didn't they sorta remove that?
Like the base game play doesn't have them or something?

I noticed the reflection is wrong in the one in the first post
No, the one at the top is a bad photo chop. Look around the logo, the PC DVD logo and the valve logo, there are boxes around these showing where they've been un-mirrored.. oh, and the reflections
As for the character art, I'm a little bothered by the new 'clean' look. I mean, they should either start dirty, or gradually get dirtier through out the levels. Clean and zombie apocalypse do not mix. Oh, and the girls hair now is just.. bleh. The bandanna reminds of of one of the hairstyles for female blood elves from WoW..
(this is where you laugh)

To be exact, there are two modes. One is pure 4 co-op survivors going along the scenario, all encounters generated by the "director". The second involves player controlled zombies playing against the player controlled survivors. Not exactly sure how the second system is supposed to work.
But yeah, that girl was a really bad choice in art direction.
Then again, I loved all the old models.
Otherwise, I still want this. Badly.

Uh...no. There is only one mode, just you can turn off enemy players(whether you're infected or survivors). If you are playing as the infected, you're one of the "boss" infected, of which I know there are at least 4 types, if not more. I'm not sure if you could be a 'normal' infected.
Thanks for clarifying that. I knew it would be primarily bosses, but I'm also unsure on being able to control normal infected. It might get a little boring if you have to wait for a boss to spawn via director's choice. I believe there are 4 known bosses, and 1 extra witch creature which pwns you if you make too much noise.
Well that would make the witch known, and I believe there's a picture of her about.
Wait... that's a GREAT idea.

true, it would be a nifty concept, however the concept of the witch is:
"You ###### up, you die"
What we have atm are:
Normal Zombies - All controlled by the Director
Boss Zombies:
Smoker - Long tunge, strangle survivors with it. Either drags them to him (can do this from the other side of a crowd of zombies), or try to hang them.
Boomer - Fat, ugly, nasty, blows up when killed and pukes on people.
Hunter - Crack Zombie. Climbs, is fast, and has a pounce attack (when it lands it beats on you until you or it dies)
They are spawned as the director needs them, can be controlled by humans in some modes.
Tank - BFZ. Generally spawned at specific times (half way/endpoint/what not). Can be controlled by players
Witch - Fast, Deadly, lots of HP. Only activates if you make noise around her or use your flashlight. She has distinctive sounds that warn you she is around, and players will auto say lines about her. Can't be human controlled.

Original looks experienced, worn and wears typical things one might have scavenged in a now not-so-nice world.
The other looks like she just came from a screening for babes-with-guns, happily ignorant of the apocalypse outside.
Meh, hope it will be too hectic and dark enough to see any real difference.
Who wouldn't look like a bum after the apocalypse? It's not like they were deep frozen in some lab and just happened to stumble out among infected all of sudden with fresh clothes.
A blood drenched shirt isn't so attractive after a few days.

Why WOULD you look like a bum during the apocalypse? You'd bet I would be looting all the nicest clothes I could find man.
Killing zombies while waring a $5000 suit? You bet.

But think about it though, imagine if a player who plays the Witch would see nothing but black until something breaks the silence like loud gun fire. Then everything is highlighted in some blue looking shader and the Witch has a split second to act as it's the only time it can see anything. So if zombies are around, the survivors have no option other to defend themselves but that gives the Witch sight.
Now that'd be butt-clenching.

You think it'd still look like a $5000 suit?
