The 11th, and hotdamn I forgot the clocks went back. yay for it coming out an hour earlier than I expected!
I am pestering my GF (who is home) to try it out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
I just played it with a bunch of randoms, it was actually quite fun, regardless of not knowing the people The lobby system is a definite bonus, I was kinda wondering how valve would do multiplayer on the pc.. But it seems to all work nicely.

I can't join online games. I can get to the lobby, but when the game starts I just time out.
I swear, if my uni has blocked this (which is highly likely because they run a network about as well as I'd run a marathon), I'm going to be annoyed.

A few people have had this problem, apparently disabling Steam Cloud works sometimes.
Also, the game is awesome. However, the lobby system is appalling. Seriously, their previous system was perfect. Right now I end up joining a game with 3 randomers from everywhere across the globe so ping is horrendous.

I like the console-type multiplayer matching. it allows for easier matchmaking with friends. I havent tried going random so that might cause problems, but with friends it works really well.
Is it possible to play a decent game?? Every game I've played starts out fine but after 5 minutes or so, it just degenerates into unplayable lag. I'm really, really disappointed so far.
Edit: To answer my own question - i just got lucky and played a good game of it all the way through the demo. Would be better with friends and more teamwork I'm sure. I was expecting a little more from the more powerful zombies.

i played through a few times and never had a lag problem, it was always with the same people though.
and if you think the boss zombies are nothing, try playing on expert. good gravy its tough. a tank alone wiped out everyone from nearly full health with assault rifles.
I'm hoping Valve will be able to use this matchmaking system to support older third party games.
Games like Rainbow Six 1 / Rogue Spear (they use to have these two on sale then took them off), Commandos, or IL-2 Strumovik. With a system like that, they could even try to add classics like Age of Empires 2 and they could be one the last places to play some of these games.

Meh everything I think of this game, I've summed up in a first impressions review
I am not to impressed by the skill level you need to survive and also the melee bash is too powerfull IMHO

This. Seriously, the game's funnest on Expert and it's solid. I thought Valve were exaggerating when they said playtesters only completed it 1/3 times.
I like the "Take a Break" feature. Nothing worse in multiplayer games than having to get the phone and being forced to choose between holding up the entire team or lose your spot on the server
I've only played it up to advanced so far with my flatmate and it's ok I guess :o
I dunno... it's fun, I can't really fault it but I'm not blown away either. It's just fun.
I do find myself utterly confused a lot of the time though. Like when someone is getting dragged by a smoker? I usually have no idea where the smoker is despite the tongue and the horrible bile things are usually exploding in my face before I even know they're there. Kinda odd because I usually have a good sense of my surroundings. Did I mention that hunters are hard as heck to spot among the other zombies unless they're doing their leap thing? XD

when the demo is released for preorders, but it also auto corrects for your local system time. Admittedly brik said he had to refresh it once.

If you're smart enough to install and set up steam, create an account, purchase and download L4D then you're smart enough to use a server browser.
Poor decision, let's hope enough people whine to get it fixed for retail.

I was unsure how good the game was but my initial impressions are good.
on side note: love it.

Played it on advanced as well and yes it does seem somewhat easy, so expert is a big step up from advanced?
