I totally agree with who ever mentioned blizzard.
Starcraft had the best cut-scenes. I really liked the way that it wasn't clear if some of them were going to live(okay, I was naive) and then something would happen(dramatic sounds) and the you knew they were all going to die.
I agree with who ever said that we shouldn't use ns1 in the trailer, on the exception if there were about 6,000+ more polygons. Even then, only a wink to ns1, as the point of the trailer isn't to advertise ns1!

ps: Sorry if I'm too lazy to quote your post

Completely agree. It should be dramatic, intense but gameplay footage not funny or gimmicky. I really quoted you because you summed up NS so eloquently

A trailer/cinematic video. Valve have done it pretty well with TF2 and it draws a lot of attention; where basically they make it like the game but use no actual gameplay footage.

Yeah, I'm wondering what kind of "flavor" videos you could make since you can't really have "Meet the Skulk" for various reasons.

I'm thinking short 1 min clip of battles on landmark locations of maps which each clip being centered around a map/confilct. You could event have a 20 sec battle take up the whole time with marine, kharaa, and neutral/cinematic viewpoints.

^wow gold spam in a NS forum, nice try.

Well I think it should be juxtaposed by a quiet/atmospheric/intense beginning where the marines are advancing and then shows shots of them being stalked by the aliens (specifically skulks). And when they are ambushed all hell breaks loose and it switches into a montage of epic battles ending with something as epic as a group of marines falling back from an onos.

Meet Squad 5 is definately on the cards. However there could be "Meet the Kharaa" like videos when you see like "Meet the builder" for the aliens and what not; who knows but that sort of cameo thing could definately fit somewhere.

Typed this yesterday just before the Forums died (lucky me I noticed early enough and could backsave it for today)

When I read this Thread, I had it before my inner Eye.

I really like that, when we have the engine in our hands we can start working on it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Maybe change the last line to "Natural Selection is coming to you fall 2009, are you fit enough to survive?"

Its a Brainstorm after all. I tortured myself to bring a good Line, but I'm still not happy with it.
