Love the abilities. The idea that his damage soak would gain small amounts of energy for being used to successfully block damage is very interesting. And oddly enough, I don't seem to mind the limitation of chambers to just two types, even though I love playing gorge.
Also, very cool article you linked to. Pretty much universally fits the metagame of any competitive game. The whole time I was thinking how well it paralleled the situation of getting off the ledge in Super Smash Bros. titles.
Motivated by lore? "The bacterium, after seeing the strange effect the appearance of the Gorge had on some marines, attempted to improve this blah blah" basically, made cuter so he wont get shot
Looking forward to see it in action. The slide feels quite cartoonish compared to NS' serious alien business, I wonder if you're going to get away with it in style :)
I feel gorge in NS1 wasn't often used to it's full potential. Hopefully the NS2 gorge manages to create a similar aura of potential around it.
This is really great, I love the damage soak ability and the possibility of a slide - wait, just had an awesome idea slip 'n' slide on dynamic infestation ( i sense a mod here). Too bad he can't build MCs any more though, mc+damage soak would make you invincible.

I say let him slide on infestation all he wants since its his territory (faster if he has more speed). Downhill surfaces anywhere else he would have to spit on them a bit to get something slippery to slide on (tactical, gorge spits up a slope so he can make a quick escape if he needs to). Sounds fun!
Okay I really want to see belly-slide in some form, even if it only will be in alpha and then excluded from the official version later on, PLEASE make the animation for it! I can see whole maps dedicated to Gorge-Downhill Racing!
awesome! Too bad you are getting rid of the Movement Chamber and Sensory... Also I think the Gorge looks a bit too "heavy", but that's my opinion. It would be really cool to have the hold shift to slide on his belly thing. I would have so much fun with that and I definitely think you should incorporate that into NS2! Can't wait to see the new structures in action and the Lerk! (my favorite class) woot woot.

Though, I am quite upset to hear that he will probably only have two chambers to place - I personally loved running around as gorge and hiding sensories all over the place to ensure cosntant cloakage over a large portion of the map. Was always a good tactic and generally helped out the team quite a bit.
DUDE.... BELLY SLIDE... one thing to say, gorge race mod.
Imagine a infested raceway with 16 gorges racing each other. Maybe picking up res drops on the way which gives them spit to slow down opponents... pure awesomeness.... I definitely want a mario kart rip off here.
The old gorge had much cutier walk animation as it moved it's front and back legs at the same time. That was soo cute, could we have same kind of walking animation in NS2 also? please ^__^
