Not a thread on this yet? Anyway, was reading the District 9 thread, didn't want to derail it, as was beginning to happen.

Anyway, I thought it was a good film, very enjoyable, and amusing as hell.

The gf and I opted for Inglorious Basterds... Quentin Tarantino outdid himself on this one. Just see it, the ending is killer. :)

Gotta disagree with you here, it clearly wasn't his best work. Music was ripped from Kill Bill (and didn't fit the Nazi theme nearly as well), and the movie was far too long at around 3 hours. I did like the beginning scene where the Jewish girl escapes though.

Gotta disagree with the idea that the film was too long. In contrast to many movies, it was longer, yes, and if comparison to other film's lengths is your standard of measure, then yes, too long. However, each of the chapters to me appeared to be a shorter film within the whole, sharing a general theme, and interrelating with one another enough to appear as one. I didn't particularly notice the actual length of the film while watching it , time just flew by, and I was entertained.

The music, to me at least, fit. I like how there wasn't really any period music. It also served to remind me that the film was a gigantic work of fiction, not in any way based on true events.

Anyway, I enjoyed the show for what it was, mindlessly entertaining Nat-Zee killin'.

The fact that the music didn't fit the period was what bothered me. I liked the music, it just seemed it didn't belong.

The music was 152 minutes but didn't seem that long since it was sectioned by the various chapters.

Do you think Shoshanna got her revenge?

I heard this movie called a "spaghetti western" and it's rumored Tarantino spent a decade writing the script. Great movie!

I liked it, Quentin redeemed himself after some years of sluggish movies, imo..
The Jewhunter Hans was amazingly well played, id like to see that guy as the Riddler if ever.

If a movie could be full of itself then inglorious basterds would be one pompous and cocky movie.

The movie was in desperate need of an editor and I think the only reason its popular is because of the Tarantino name.

I thought it was great, and how can anyone who's ever seen another Tarantino movie complain about the music - jarring and anachronistic music to go with badass scenes is one of his trademarks. Strangely it didn't feel long at all to me, though my mom nodded off a couple of times.

I enjoyed it as well and the music too. The 'out of place'ness of it made the movie better in just how over the top it was if you ask me.

I liked it as well. I was wondering though how you guys found the French/English/German language mix? I speak all three languages so I didn't have to read the subtitles, but some friends were a little annoyed by that, and I guess that's something that kind of bored them or made them lose interest. Just wondering how it was for you guys.

I really liked the mix of the languages. It has always bugged me a bit when everyone spoke English regardless where the scene in the movie was.

Well... about that... Look, I'm not actually supposed to talk about this, so let's keep this on the down low. But, you see, these so-called "foreign languages" you Americans keep hearing about, they're not quite what you think they are. Most of the world actually speaks English as their main language (except for the Dutch and the Swedes, they're always being difficult). "Foreign languages" are a concept we made up to scare and intimidate you and try to suppress any desire you might have to leave the continent we have so painstakingly herded you onto. Half the time, the stuff we say when we speak "foreign languages" doesn't even mean anything. I mean, occasionally we'll see an American walking by (yes, we can tell. You stick out like sore thumbs. It's like you how you can't tell whether a bird is male or female, but it's clear as day to the birds. You may not think you look distinctive, but you might as well be wearing neon pink when attempting to blend in) and we all have to switch to our "foreign language." We usually break down in fits of sobbing laughter as soon as you're out of earshot.

So in short, those all-English movies you complain about? They're actually pretty accurate. Only we don't have stupid pseudo accents to indicate what country we're from.

The only time I thought the sound didn't match is when they played Battle Without Honor or Humanity, and that's mainly because it's so very distinctive as "that Kill Bill song". It really took me out of the moment, which is probably the worst thing a soundtrack can do...

Otherwise I had no complaints. I took the historical inaccuracy of the music to be a cue towards the historical inaccuracy of the plot. :P

Maybe you should make your terrible emoticons match the forum's default skin. Or just not use them at all; I have no problem with the textual content of your posts, but the last time I saw any of those emoticons are when my 12/14-year old cousins (both girls) were using them, and it disgusted me then. Hey kids! This is a PSA! Let's stop whining about pointless stuff! Rawr!

I found the subtitles mostly fine but once or twice had a little trouble reading something as I was trying to watch the action on the screen.

I saw this movie at a midnight showing.

I thought I did a thread, but I'm on so many forums and a lot of them had threads for the Inglorious Basterds.

QT did a great job on the movie and I loved it all. Was funny that my friend and I where only laughing at some parts. Dark humor ftw right? :)

Subtitles, who cares. It allows you to understand that stuff if you don't. Though tbh, I should understand the german and italian, because I'm 1/3 of each haha.

I think every foreigner (lolfighter..lol ;)) should have captions when they speak! Make it a lolcat style. :)

Very much enjoyed it, felt the music fit the scenes it was used in well tbh Having not seen the kill bills probably helped. Personally didn't mind the different languages and subtitles, (try playing a Final Fantasy game). Felt the "Jew Hunter" was the star of the show and brad pitts part was dumbed down a little.
